Hahaha, I love nationalism in elementary school textbooks. It's so blatant that it's always worth a good laugh for adults.

There is a Singaporean character in the English Elementary school texts. He has a very small part. maybe only lesson 1. I wonder if the Singaporean government will demand his removal, citing his glasses with lenses as thick as car tires? Hmmm.

My family are from Singapore and I think it is fair to say that many Singaporeans do have a negative image of Koreans.
Whenever we discuss the subject, they always use the word 'rough' to describe them. They seem to think of Koreans as uncouth, ill-mannered alcoholics.
There was a Singaporean indy movie made a couple of years ago, but I forgot the title. One of the main characters was a morose, alcoholic Korean neighbour. I'm surprised that didn't cause ripples here.

Well, considering the way Koreans behave in South East Asia---and in North West Asia for that matter---I don't think they have any leg to stand on there.
