"similar to what soldiers do in the army"
Hmm, and here my friend who was in a Korean special forces unit complained that punishment during basic training was 'similar to what students do in high school'. |

He will be reprimanded by way of demotion like usual. It's accepted as part of Korean school life, even in expensive private schools. |

Ever notice how Youtube is trying to get you to sign up as living in a certain country so that you can receive content that is more applicable to your area?
It's also so that they can appease Korean (and other country) authorities who are threatening to ban them for allowing clips of stuff like this online.
The government here wants to control you so you can't view clips like this. |

That one is better. Shows all. |
How do I put a positive spin on this? It's good that this hit the internet, that one of her schoolmates got this on camera to highlight the problem with teachers using violence in the schools. I personally think the teacher should be arrested. You simply don't hit a student on the face. That's not even acceptable in Korea. I understand that corporal punishment is common, and they are supposed to only hit students in certain areas and not on the face. He really beat her severely. That teacher has major issues. |

Well, it's not as bad as this one was a few years back:

The guy was given a temporary desk job, last I heard. If I were a parent, and he did that to my did, I'd be in jail for beating the shit out of that guy the next day. I'd do it right in front of his entire office, too, just to cause him to lose face.
It would be OK to discipline my kid -- i wouldn't even mind smacks to the shins, but punches to the face would make him a marked man. |

Maybe next time. |

That's pretty bad. Why don't the police arrest such teachers? Children should be disciplined in school, but hitting them on the face with sticks or punching is not discipline, it is abuse and sometimes torture. In this latest incident, it helped that the girl had a strong personality and she had friends and, I believe, other teachers interfere to stop that man. |

Hogwash. You really think youtube's filter is for governmental control?
The clip was on the news this morning.

The clip on the news blurs out faces and shows nothing discernable.
Trust me, as soon as they can get the paperwork done, these kinds of videos are stricken from the sites. Same with inflammatory or anti-Korean news stories.
If the gov't doesn't go after them, then VANK does:
