Too bad the idiots in the crowd aren't nearly as classy as McCain is.

It's too bad that the crowd can't take their signals from McCain (who I will agree with you is really classy in defeat).

McCain -"Everyone makes mistakes and I've made my share of them..."
Was that a subtle stab at Palin? |

I thought that too. But then less than 5 minutes later he played her up as a future leader of the party. I don't know.

Fair play to McCain. He ran a good campaign for a 72 yr old. |

Nah. He just meant that he should have spent more time in Pennsylvania. |

Hey man - a few boos is nothing. If Obama had lost, Atlanta would be burning right now. |

Well, I don't know about that. I think Obama would be delivering an equally classy concession speak.
And that crowd was more than just boos. I was hearing people yelling and screaming "no" when McCain was talking about working with Obama. Enough people were screaming it that it was audible over his speech.
I just wish that they had followed McCain's speech, which was very classy.

Relax. Those represent his hardcore, partisan supporters from his homestate. Probably longtime contributors, etc. They are bound to be disappointed at this moment. |

Yep, a most honourable concession speech.
Welcome back to the world Americans: we have missed you.
Now let's see more of those great ideals for which you stand. |

I like McCain, and I don't think we should focus on his age so much. His major problem was George Bush and his legacy, just as a large part of Al Gore's problem was the Lewinsky scandal associated with Bill Clinton. Frankly, after 8 years of Bush what could you really expect from McCain?
A much better campaigner than McCain would have had a hard time.
McCain did what he could under the circumstances. Plus, over 90% of black voters voted for Obama, they lost some Evangelical voters, more Hispanics voted for the Democrats. McCain had most of the white vote, but it was just not enough.
Anyway, I forgot to say "woo hoo!!!!!!" |

I heard from my left-leaning Australian co-worker (who really likes Obama), that McCain's speech was very touching.
I'll have to watch it tonight, when I get home. |
