May Obama become greater than MLK. That will be my prayer.

That's sarcasm, right?

MLK was a whoremonger. I personally know men who smoked up with him. Let go that myth, please?

Obama is far removed from the African-American experience. Raised by a single white mother, Ivy League educated.

Pray for Obama as our 44th. Lord knows he's earned it.

How is being raised by a white mother removed from the African-American experience? Black is black in America. When someone attacks him with a racist slur, can he go up to them and say, 'Hey, lay-off...my mother is white." I'm sure that works real well.

Ivy League educated...he put himself through school. How can this be a slight against a man.

It is a miracle that Obama was elected. He is the epitomy of the American Dream...and this is not just based on his colour. The first 'awake' President America has had in a long time. I look forward watching the change in America, and the change in the world, for the next four to eight years. Just hope some redneck doesn't get him before he can accomplish all he can.

Well, as far as rednecks, plenty of rednecks also voted for Obama. I think Obama had a big win. He really worked hard and so did his campaign and partisans. They were extremely organized. I hope his cabient is very focused, organized, and wise. Obama really worked hard in Pennsylvania. We can't disregard race, because most whites voted for McCain, but it wasn't enough since whites represented about 75% of those who vote. I say good for you, Obama!!!! Congratulations!!!
As far as not having 60 senate seats, I am sure the 56 or so Democratic senators can work with enough GOP senators to get things done.

Thank you! God...people embrace the fact that he is "BLACK"! This is history and one of the greatest moments in American politics. Even though I don't support his policies, I am greatly encouraged that we can fight racism through something as amazing as this.

Far Left posters to this forum take note:

fiveeagles like McCain has something you don't possess:

CLASS

Notice I didn't say nor am I referring to all liberals and/or those who regard themselves as Left of Center. But the Far Left in America is the most pathetic, humorless, and classless bunch of the lot. Even Limbaugh has more class than the lot of them, and that's not saying much.

Reesedog:

To reduce the legacy of MLK to that of a whoremonger is mean-spiritedness of the worst sort. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are just trying to be provocative.

Congrats...now if Bush would only do the proper thing and vacate the White House early.

Even if true, what do these have to do with MLK's accomplishments? How do they diminish what he achieved?

Like starting multiple flame war threads and not responding to anyone's rebuttals or questions?

If you listen to Obama and McCain's speeches today, only one had an audience booing the opponent.

Agreed, fiveeagles is far from classy.

Manin the Middle, is that like Joe the Plumber or Jake the Snake?

In all fairness to McCain, his speech was good, it was just his (or more like Palin's) ignorant base doing the booing. Great to see Sarah the Unethical try to give a speech and realize that nobody was staying around to hear it.

Yes, I give him credit for that. I was highlighting Man in the Middle's jab at the "far left."

Right. Pray instead that he becomes greater than Malcolm X.

About zero rednecks voted for Obama, he didn't have a big win, he didn't work hard (neither did his campaign or his partisans), they were completely unorganized and his "cabient' was fucked.

Additionally, Obama didn't work hard in Pennsylvania and we absolutely can disregard race. Plus the Dems are screwed in the Senate.

You're welcome.

Confused

Good point, though that's not what I was saying. I just meant that MLK shouldn't be held up as an example of a pure and righteous man. He had his faults.
