Does anyone use Internet banking to transfer funds to your oversea account? Any limits on the amount you can transfer and any other restrictions? KEB, SC, KB?
What are other options for transferring money while outside of Korea? I asked at KB and was told it isn't possible via phone or fax. Was also told I can do this through internet banking, but it's limited to ~$1000.

KB uses cirrus compatiable cards, theoretically they should work in many if not most atms in North America. If you're Canadian, I know all Bank of Montreal branches support international cirrus cards. |

If ur ATM card is older than 2 1/2 years it'll work abroad. Fee is 3$. It's also the cheapest and fastest way sending money back home. Luckily I have 2 cards so I left 1 with my mother and whenever I have 2 send money she just withdraws it from the next machine.
If ur card is younger ask @ ur branch if it's work abroad. Tell them ur going on holiday so I did @ Standard Chartered.
Or apply for a Credit Card. Let ur school help u with this.
A friend of mine got strucked in Thailand without money coz his ATM wasn't international. And don't trust KB star cards sayin international card |

I guess another option would be to use your international ATM card, if it works |
KB lets you transfer money from the bank machine. Costs 5000 won. I have no idea how it decides how much you can send, but it told me 6 million was the max, even though I didn't have that much in my account. |

I just registered with KB to be able to use the ATM to send money to my account abroad. Before using it the first time a person must register with the bank, so it took him a few phone calls and about 30 minutes of paperwork to figure it all out. But now it is great because I don't have to go into the bank to transfer anymore. The fee is 5000w and it will send up to 5,000,000 per day. |

Yeah, I've got an international card with SC that works. But I'm mostly interested in people's experience with money transfers via internet banking and the restrictions/limitations.
Uhh.. Draz and teachergirl, do you guys know of any KB branches outside Korea? Because I'm looking to do this while outside of Korea. |

I just set up my remittance with KEB yesterday. I had to go down to the bank and set it up there. The guy put my bank information into the system. I came home and logged in to check if he had done it correctly. Presto, the information was there, and I can send money anytime I want. I haven't actually done it yet. I am praying for an exchange rate miracle! I think it is 8,000 won. |

Awesome.. so my question is, how much can you send at one time? Is there a limit? |

I tried to find this information for you this morning, but I couldn't locate it. I knew I saw it somewhere. I found it now. I doubt this link will work for you, but the url is http://eib.keb.co.kr/EIB/frame/index.jsp. At any rate, here is the information from KEB's website:
Quote: |
Day Service Hour Available Amount
Monday ~ Friday 09:30 ~ 18:00 - USD 500,000 per each transaction
18:00 ~ 22:00 - USD 300,000 per each transaction
22:00 ~ 09:30 - USD 50,000 per each transaction
Saturday, Sunday, Holidays Whole day - USD 50,000 per each transaction
Donative (Individual) remittance through internet banking is possible if the amount is under $10,000 per day and $50,000 per year regardless of the amount available.
E-mail notices for wire transfer transactions are provided at no cost. KEB is not responsible for security and transmission of content provided through this service.
