I've seen George on committee hearings and George is good.

He's my governor and knows Transportation. I worked for PENNDOT under him and he's good. One thing, the reason we call him Fast Eddie is they got nabbed doing 90 mph on the PA Turnpike in his official limo coming back to Harrisburg from Philly. His driver was a state trooper.

HHS: Howard Dean, if he wants it. If not... keep on keeping on Howie, you did the DNC proud.

Interior: Lincoln Chafee, Christine Gregoire, Brian Schweitzer, RFK Jr.

RFK Jr. definitely--if not EPA. This kid's been all over this stuff and knows what's right. But Schweitzer would be good--take care of those moose and caribou. Energy too.

I like Richardson for State, Napolitano for AG. Jesse Jackson, Jr. would make his pops proud and I'd trust O to know he knows how to run things. Tammy Duckworth at the VA would be marvelous (she's an amputee from Iraq--helicopter pilot).

David Plouffe gets some special reward, Joel Klein too, but Chief of Staff Tom Daschle sounds good to me. That's the kind of experienced advice he's gonna need. The other two need to go slow, helping to organize things.

I already have a running-mate for him picked out for 2012 after Biden's done a tour and deserves to retire. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. JAP (with a brain and a law degree) will turn Florida permanently Blue, Joe likes her--he'll train her up right. I like her too.

It would be nice to have Krugman in there somewhere... if he's going to try to deal with the economy. Seems to have a headsup on everything.

Kind of his own John Kenneth Galbraith type advisor.

Krugman won't be invited. Have you been reading Krugman this year? This Spring he shifted his number one target from George Bush to Barack Obama.

Admittedly its partly for selfish reasons but I'd love to see Sam Nunn at Sec. of State. Although I think Lugar would be an excellent choice and bridge the political gap as well.

Vilsack is a reasonably popular governor and Jim Leach is a moderate Republican ex-Congressman, dumped in '06. (Both from Iowa)

Leach would be good for a GOP seat at the table.

Already offered to Rham Emmanuel according to some article this morning.

I hope he makes Bill Richardson Secretary of State.Bill Richardson is a known quantity and he will do a reasonably good job.

Secratary of Defense ought to be Gates for a while and then Danzig.

Larry Summers ought to be sec of the treasury.

Obama: By His Friends You Shall Know Him

More important than the color of his skin is the color of Barack Obama's politics.

By Dr. Sahib Mustaqim Bleher

With the initial euphoria of the election of the first "black" president of the United States of America slowly subsiding, it is time to take a good look at the colour of Obama's politics rather than skin. It quickly becomes apparent then that there won't be much change after all. Early on in his campaign, Barack Obama gave a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) indicating his unwavering support for Israel. His selection of staff and advisers confirms that he is not going back on his word.

Obama's campaign manager was David Axelrod, an American Jew from Manhattan, who will be rewarded with the post of Chief White House advisor. As Chief of Staff, Obama selected Rahm Israel Emanuel, who also holds Israeli citizenship and served as a volunteer in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). John Podesta, also Jewish, heads the new president's transition team. Likely candidates for treasury secretary are Lawrence (Larry) Summers, Timothy Franz Geithner, and Paul Volcker, all Jewish. John Kerry, whose parents converted from Judaism to Roman Catholicism, might become Secretary of State. An exception with regard to kosher credentials might be former CIA director Robert Gates, who could be invited to stay on as defence secretary - not much change in Iraq or Afghanistan then. James (Jim) Steinberg, likely to become National Security Advisor, is part of the tribe again, as is another contender for this post, Dennis Ross, who was Clinton's Middle East Envoy. The few expected black appointments will be safe choices, such as Susan Rice, potential Ambassador to the UN, a former protege of the infamous Madeleine Albright.

So colour really doesn't matter all that much. Those who hope that the Bush administration's unconditional support for Israeli aggression might change with Obama will be in for a nasty surprise. Of course, McCain wouldn't have been any different. And just for the record: Given that only about three percent of the American population are Jewish, their heavy concentration in the corridors of power is, of course, purely coincidental!

I'm glad to see John Kitzhaber on that list for HHS. He is the former two-term Governor of Oregon.

Obama's people have apparently circulated this...

Here is a look at some of the names being floated for key posts, as well as a list of key advisers from his campaign who may retain some level of influence within the Obama White House...
