It seems like everyone in this village has a persimmon tree and because of this I've been getting tons of persimmons from my landlord, and I'll probably be getting some from students' parents as well.
Bleck, I didn't even like persimmons that much before, but it couldn't hurt to see what I can do with them. Does anybody prepare them any way other than peeling and chopping? |

4 choices:
Find homeless people and make a deposit
Trash them
Give them to other people as you received them
Throw them at cars |

How about making Persimmon Bread? It tastes a LOT like Pumpkin Bread. |

Yes, I buy the gooey squishy ones from the side of the road which are cheaper, then freeze them. Delicious! I prefer them cold. |

Call me Susie homemaker, but I've been making chutney with my masses of persimmons. I used a tamarillo chutney recipe http://www.cuisine.co.nz/index.cfm?pageId=30054, used apple vinegar instead of malt vinegar, and didn't bother blanching the tamarillos. It's pretty good! |

You could take up juggling...
Throw a bunch of them behind you to escape people chasing you...
Use them as packing filler to send things home...
Build a wall in front of your classroom door...
Practice for the start of baseball season...
Carve them like pumpkins and decorate your home and office...
And if you have any more left after all of that, you could always try passing them off as currency... Its not like the won is worth much more these days |

They have to be the crappiest fruit on the planet.
But the trees do look really nice in autumn; i'll give them that. |
