Hi,
Has anyone been skiing in Gangwon Do (or can you recommend anywhere else)? Any info on equipment hire, where to stay, cost etc greatly appreciated.
Steve. |

There are several places. Yongpyung is the best known, and probably the most crowded. Gangchon is a closer-to-Seoul, cheaper alternative. There are probably a lot more as well. There are usually rental places all around the ski hill, and I find them easy to deal with and fairly cheap. |

Thanks Racetraitor.
I think I'll check out High 1 at Gangwon Land - bonus of the casino for night time. Also someone said if I show my ARC I get 50% discount! Any idea what sort of price i'll be paying for ski rental? |

Off the top of my head, I think it'll be under 20 000, but I have no clue. |

I went to Yangpyeong for Lunar New Year, and we had the hill to ourselves for the vast majority of the day. That was one day, granted. By early evening there were so many dang people cutting in front of me that I thought breaking my neck was an imminent possibility.
I had a great time with friends, but I'm not sure if it's the same as back home...there are just way too many people involved. |

Phoenix Park is decent. I would advise to do evening or night skiing as it's much quieter. |
