I was just wondering if it is possible for foreigner teachers to win teaching awards (For teaching English) of any kind or significance in Korea?

I'm not implying that I should win one myself but both of my Public School Co-teachers have won awards this year...
First of all, one teacher won one, largely of the back of an open class we did together, to which I contributed the ideas for some of the most successful parts of the lesson and I taught some of the activities in the lesson myself.
Secondly, they have both recently won another prize because our school did well at some English contest. I believe I've done as much as they have towards the progress of our students and quite possibly more (considering after-school programs and vacation camp teaching).
I guess I don't qualify as I'm officially only an 'assistant' teacher.

The response to the awards of my co-teachers varied a lot. One seemed quite proud of himself almost implying it was yet another for his large collection. The other one though, seemed generally embarrassed and humble about the whole thing.

Standard practice is to give an award to the grinder, rather than the monkey, even though the monkey's the real star.

a friend has told me she's competing in her open class with those of other foreign teachers in her school district for some prize. this open class is supposed to be more about the foreign teacher than the korean teacher. but this is the first i've heard of any FT contest/award/prize here

I won some sort of commendation from my school district a couple years back. That and W1,000 will get me a role of kimbab.
