i miss good ole turkey slices so i can make a turkey sandwich. is it truly so impossible to find here? maybe at costco? other than that, everything i miss is super bad for me. like zebra cakes. and yes i miss not having an oven. i've been making the same stir fried style dinner for months now. i miss bagel bites, pizza bites, lean cuisine meals (who knew???), but mostly the turkey. on a side note, anyone else make dinner out of their rice cooker? i'm going to attempt a rice casserole my mom whips up. the cake i might try as well. do they have real frosting here? maybe costco. damn i definitely need to make that costco trip soon! i've never been. TURKEY!!!! why do you haunt me so!! |

I've seen Root Beer at the Pinoy market in Heywha on Sunday afternoon.
Root Beer float would be awesome.

chuncheon dukalbi: the place on Geoje Island switched its menu when the bird flu scare happened and the one in Jinju closed down though I hear there's one more somewhere there (if anyone knows of a place in Busan or Gyeongsangnamdo let me know!)
soondae guk: with the clear angel noodles in the sauce, only one place I've ever had it and its on Geoje and the last two times I've gone back to the island I've had other cuisine (so many choices). time to go again.
lasagna: quality made, hard enough to find back home, impossible here unless you fiddle around to try and make it, even then: no cottage cheese, need an oven, etc
old fashioned apple pie: is there any place in this country that makes a great apple pie?
mexican chocolate chicken: don't you dare criticize this dish unless you've had it. I had it in Winnipeg several times at a fancy hotel restaurant which imports (literally) a new cook every six months from a different country each time: the chef was from mexico city and his dishes were amazing but none more so than this one |

Both can be found at a small eatery near the Woosong campus in Daejeon. Owner is Korean, but has lived abroad for years (married to a big-nose for 11 years), so she knows how to make them GOOOOOOOOOD.
Plus, she makes Philly cheesesteak, chicken pot pies, and a mean meatloaf. |
