Interesting. But 9 out of 10 of these projects never get made. |

emmmm... strange choice...
Im sure with the money and skill of both they will produce a good movie..
but OLD boy needs to be a dark movie..
I would have chosen, David Finch or someone with more of a darker edge
and for actors, will smith, well never seen him in a character this dark and tormented, so will be interesting..
but I would have gone with an actor who is dark in nature.. |

wow man i don;t often agree with you but i was just thinking the guy who made zodiac would be the perfect choice. i take it you mean david fincher though..
it's definitely a role that would have oscar written all over it. |

I love how they cited the octopus scene as particularly disturbing. Teeth extractions, tongue cuttings and incest anyone? |

yes Fincher thats right..
yeah he is a great director..
Seven, the game, Zodiac, fightclub.. all those movies had that great dark lighting and suspence to it, raw, dull colors to make it more creepy..
he would do great as the director.. |

I'd like to see a Japanese make of it (since Oldboy is from Japan in the first place) with some crazy Japanese actors using the original script. Directed by someone like Miike Takashi would be cool. |

Not sure how I feel about this. However, Will Smith has been told time and time again that "he can't do that role." Yet he pulls it off every time. Should be interesting. |
yeah, pulls off his classic clown act--he's a b-rate actor at best |

I also saw they're remaking The Chaser, which is odd because it's about a real Korean serial killer (although the movie doesn't have some of the more disturbing details). |

ya will smith has done a bunch of different type rolls but I seriously think he is exactly the same person every time, he makes a good sexy wise cracking physical humor lead but I don't really see him as being able to the crazy needed for to make this good. |
