Ah thanks, so like a 10,000 won taxi? Dam i was hoping Incheon had its own station...
I haven't been to Seoul much so have no idea, cheers for the info. Still is quicker than a 5 hour bus ride. |

That would be nice if the KTX went to the airport by having the airport located south of Seoul on or near the KTX line instead of being built in the far NW part of the country making getting to and from the airport longer for everyone and then many of the flights arrive later at night when the buses shut down. Now that's sparkling planning and zoning.. |

the airport DOES have railway access.
it's still under construction, running only to Gimpo airport at the moment. they will have it reach all the way over to Seoul station in the near future. |

10 000 won wouldn't even get you off Airport Island. |

The 50 minute bus ride mentioned earlier from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station costs 9000 Won. That is your best bet.
At Incheon airport, you just go out to the street at the arrivals level. Go to one of several bus ticket counters and tell them where you are going, then go to the correct sign for your bus. They are about every 15 minutes.
KTX's running to Busan and points east leave from Seoul Station. KTX's running to GwangJu and points west leave from Yongsan Station. Check the KTX schedule and verify if your KTX leaves from Seoul Station or Yongsan Station.
Sounds like a great way to go! Have fun! |

The subway to/from the Incheon Airport is nice and it has stops other than Gimpo. |

It runs from Incheon to Gimpo, even after 12 am (that's a plus) and it's cheap (5,000 won if memory serves me). The downside is ...it only runs to Gimpo. If you need to get anywhere else in Seoul, your best bet is still the shuttle buses...They will get you anywhere in Seoul or the rest of Korea... |

Where do you live? You may be better served by taking an express bus to Gwangmyeong station (which is all highway and avoids going into seoul) and taking the KTX from there. |

True, which way is the best value and most convenient depends on WHERE you are going and what time your plane arrives. |

do your research before blindly bashing. The ICN airport railway is going to be branching over to Gwangmyeong KTX station in addition to being extended all the way over to Seoul station. |

That's good so there will be much quicker airport xfers. I'm bashing the far out remote location of the airport. South to Southeast of Seoul would be an excellent location offering a more direct quicker access. Koreans really are poor at zoning and planning as are many large sprawling cities.
I suppose they can build high speed rail service to remedy the inconvenience and then it really doesn't matter if they manage to cut the time from Seoul station down to 20 minutes. I don't think it'll do it though it technically could as it feels like the KTX doesn't run full speed like the bullet trains in Europe though they're nice trains. The KTX seems slow compared to Germany's ICE trains and France's TGV's though KTX is essentially the same technology. |
