Hey, you Ho Lee Chow regulars.
Money no object, what are the very best things they do? Name a few.
Both times I've been there, at our table and most tables right around ours, the food was so blistering hot (spicy) that it was practically inedible beyond the first few obligatory bites. People were leaving half-full plates of food behind them. No idea what other tables had ordered, but I don't recall us ordering anything clearly marked as "crazy-ass hot!" (they've got those "pepper" icons next to some menu items, right?) |
You must have a lot of trouble with Korean food then. I'll always get either the black bean chow mein or the Shanghai noodles, and then a meat dish.
Also, the mu shu shrimp wraps are an excellent appetiser. |

I'm from Vancouver, so I'm used to good authentic Cantonese food. I won't say Ho Lee Chow is great, but for that kind of food, there isn't much choice in Seoul. It's the only place for halfway decent chow mein, and that's the biggest thing I miss. Ho Fun, or Chow Fun, is also good. |

| Texas Street in Busan has at least 10 excellent Chinese restaurants. Across the street from Busan Station, it's definitely worth a visit. |

| I just went again today. It's not gourmet, but given the situation, it's tolerable. |

| One thing I miss is Canadian Chinese food like ginger beef. I don't recall ever seeing a Chinese restaurant in Canada that had anything involving General Tso. |

I agree. Try the honey garlic prawns, maybe they're now called 'Sweet and Spicy jumbo prawns'.
Of course...naturally...why not...let's all move to the Phillipines if we want some different food. |

Yeah, General Tso is something you dont' really see much of in Canadian cities like Vancouver. They're a little more upfront about their names like "spicy stir fried chicken". |

Jackie's Kitchen, the few that are left, has become pretty Koreanized. It's not bad, but I'd pick Ho Lee Chow in Itaewon over it. The dim sum is not bad though.
Side note: I did notice a new dim sum place that opened in Myeongdong. It billed itself as authentic Guangdong-style, so I'm going to try and check it out. |

| The place in Myeongdong you're probably talking about is Din Tai Fung, which also has a branch in Gangnam subway station. |

Nope, not Din Tai Fung. DTF is Taiwanese, which is fine, but I wanted Hong Kong/Guangdong style. I tried to go there today but they didn't open for dinner until 7pm. Unfortunately I had a movie to go to.
The place is called Zao Ping.
