You go there, rent a pair of skates and off you go on the ice with 50 people who are skating for the first time. |

sorry to break up the theme of the thread and actually do as the op asked and answer his question, the ice rink is on the very bottom floor in lotte, next to all the restaurants and the shooting range. it's sort of in where lotte world is, but you you don't have to actuallly pay into lotte world to go ice skating.
the rink is actually very good, well lit and it's fun, but there is a "pro" area where all the speed skaters go (it's in the middle of the rink) try to avoid getting too close to them unless you're really good, however it is fun to watch other bad people make a mess of things and end up in there, scared out of there minds of whats goin to happen to them!!
i can't remember exactly how much it costs but it's an extra 1000won to buy gloves, so if you don't have any i would suggest buying some, especially if you're like me an intend on falling over a lot!! |

on two occasions i've tried to skate at lotte world, but i haven't actually been on the ice. it's REALLY expensive, about 15 bucks to rent skates and ice time. you can only get figure skates or speed skates - no hockey skates. there will be a million people on the ice, so you can't really get up any speed.
it's not my cup of tea (i'd go to an arena instead) but it might be fun for a date. |

I love ice-skating, so I am ashamed to say that I live right down the street from Lotte Wolrd and have NEVER gone ice-skating there. There are just toooooooooo many people for my tastes. I am a pretty good skater, but still, if some little kid gets in the way or something, and I fall, I am too self-conscious for people to see me fall. Not to mention, someone told me the ice gets really wet and slushy. They don't maintain it well. I once saw a guy fall, and he was soaking wet when he stood up. Eeww. I only went ice-skating once in Olympic Park. But I went on a weekday, too. I imagine weekends would be horrendously packed. |

One of the best places to go Ice-skating in Seoul is at Korea University.
Crowds are pretty small, and most of the people there are serious about skating (practicing twirls, and speed skating as well as having lessons) so there isn't that feeling you are going to die when 5 amateurs crash into you. (In fact I was probably the worst skater on the ice, with my GF a close 2nd).
However, unless you are a keen skater or live near Korea University I don't know if it would be worth going there. |

You don't need to be a student or know a student to use it? |

the ice rink is actually quite well maintained, they bring out the guy in the cart thingy to clean it up every few hours, the times i've been it has been busy enough but not too packed.....and as for the falling down and being soaked, no, i fell over approx 500 million times and i was fine.....i have been ice skating in africa before and it was like trying to walk on a slush puppy!! |
