seen wikipedia's south korea information page??
It seems like a bunch of koreans sat down, and wrote it. Rolling Eyes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Korea

Education in South Korea is regarded crucial to success and competition is consequently very heated and fierce. In the most recent OECD Programme for International Student Assessment, South Korea came first in Problem solving, first in Reading, third in Mathematics and eleventh in Science, all being significantly higher than Western European and North American countries.[72] South Korea has the highest national IQ in the world, estimated at 106.[73]

A centralised administration in South Korea oversees the process for the education of children from kindergarten to third grade high school.

South Korea is a major economic power and one of the wealthiest countries in Asia. The South Korean economy is highly developed[5] and one of the four largest[40] in Asia and 13th largest[41] in the world. Often called the "Miracle on the Han River", South Korea's tremendous economic growth was fueled by the export of high-tech goods. The South Korean economy continues to grow at a very fast pace, having one of the highest GDP, export and industrial production growth rate in the developed world. By 2050, the South Korean economy would have grown to over $4 trillion and have an income per capita of over $90,000, overtaking all of the current G7 except the United States.[42] Today, South Korea is leading several key industries in the world, particularly in the fields of science and technology. The Asian Tiger's strongest industries are automobiles, biotechnology, construction, computers, electronics, petrochemicals, robotics, semiconductors, shipbuilding, and steel.

Have you ever realized that wikipedia is a reference site where you can literally just sit down and write it?

Information on wikipedia should be treated accordingly...

Yeah, that's why in a "real" school, they don't let you use Wikipedia as a reference. You can write anything about anyone.

Didn't you see where the crown prince/princess of some European country got busted going in and updating their own Wiki article?

Geez.

Now that's over the top to state Korea is the smartest high IQ country. We all know it's not and an extremely silly retarded idea. Look at the food, fashion, pollution, and all the illogical facts to see just how smart it is. And the economic growth the article mentions is unrealistic as this kind of growth is not sustainable unless America just kept chugging along with huge economic growth to buy more and more Korean exports. Korea doesn't have much of a domestic economy to support growth and profiteering.

Korea is too focused on who is smart, in the shiniest silver suit, rich, and who has the most brains and technology packed into the smallest space. It's almost an idea of thinking of humans as robots to produce wealth for the country to put on this good image. I think it's all a silly mismatch of priorities of a people who don't think and lead independently. It's unfortunate where this might lead them.

I love Korea, but I hate the insecurity that manifests itself in all contact with the outside world. This is a perfect example--Wikipedia in English, religiously (perhaps) updated and expanded by Koreans to promote themselves in front of English speakers. Wikipedia in Korean (which only Koreans would see?) lagging behind Esperanto in number of articles, unused as "Naver is much better," according to my students.

Geez, blatant propaganda work.

"an influential military power in the world" nope

who cares that it's got a visa waiver with the US? Only Koreans, I suppose

"South Korea is rapidly becoming a multicultural society" lie, read the link "multicultural" and it tells you how non-multicultural SK is Laughing .

I may read past the introduction later.

I would imagine the obsession with face in this country is what's preventing the Koreans from realizing that they look incredibly foolish trying to self-promote so much.

Wikipedia is a virtual shiny silver suit for the country as a whole. No matter how shiny the suit gets, it's never shiny enough.
