|
|
I've been in Korea about two months, and I take my winter vacation in the second half on January. I haven't had enough time to save up much money but I really wanna go somewhere for the break. Ideally it would be somewhere hot, but I looked at prices to S.E. Asia and seem kinda expensive. I'm open to going anywhere really, my intuition tells me China would be the cheapest and that would be cool with me. So what do you guys think, where is the cheapest place to vacation? |

Jan is not good china time unless you go to the south like Guilin or Kumming. It's very cold in beijing and Shanghai in Jan. |

Seems to be that airfares are double or almost double they normally were until this last Summer. We're seeing a time of hyper inflation. |

I was in Beijing/Guilin a couple years ago around late January. Guilin is much warmer (maybe 50 degrees F) but my experience was there was NO indoor heat and it was very damp. I was perpetually freezing, I didn't warm the whole 3 weeks I was there. While Beijing was colder, I found it more pleasant because places tended to be heated indoors. I also went on a big trip to the Great Wall in January. It wasn't that bad. But maybe because I'm from Minnesota and it felt nice to be above freezing in January.
Yeah ticket prices are insane right now. My journey through Southeast Asia in Jan/Feb will cost $1000+ just on airfare. My friends found roundtrip tickets to Japan for just under $300. It's supposed to be warmer than Korea (though its still pretty expensive in general). |
