From cnn.com:

SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) -- A South Korean man admitted to police that he killed a former school teacher who punished him for cheating on a test 21 years ago, authorities said Monday.

The man, who police identified only as Kim, told officers that he had repeatedly sought an apology from the teacher for the 1987 incident -- but was rebuffed.

At the time, Kim was a 10th grader, the investigating detective at Seoul's Eunpyeong police station said.

He told police he had finished a test about 20 minutes early and decided to take a nap. When he awoke, he looked around at his fellow test-takers.

The teacher, a 58-year-old man identified by police only as Song, accused him of cheating and gave him a severe beating.

Kim told police that the teacher beat him about 100 times.

Last January, an unemployed Kim began asking the teacher for an apology, calling him on the phone and showing up at his school, police said.

Angered at being ignored, Kim told police he confronted Song outside the his house in the Eunpyeong district Sunday night and killed him.

Police arrested Kim at a hospital where he had gone to seek treatment for hand wounds that he suffered during the attack, officials said.

Authorities will decide later Monday on whether to charge Kim in connection with the teacher's death.

Crap.. that makes me nervous. I catch about 10 people cheating on their tests everytime midterms and finals roll around.

Granted I don't hit them 100 times for it.

The funny part of this story? Police are still considering wether to press charges or not. Uh, duh!

Sparkling.

I would like to go out on a limb here and say we don't need to put in the surname of Korean offenders.

Oh look a man identified as KIM did something, that really narrows it down.

Kind of sounds like the old bastard had it coming. Never know the sort of impact that failure of judgment had on the kids development. He gave him the chance to apologize. Reap what you sow and all that. Still, I admit murder does seem a little extreme.

The key is that the teacher abused the student. Granted, it is wrong to cheat, but torturing a student by beating him 100 times is something that should get you arrested, and the teacher never got arrested for abusing the kid. The kid was traumatized by it, obviously, and when he was old enough to get revenge, he did. Still, I don't condone murder.

Well, if the Korean media is the source. It could have been one hit. The guy could of been a pimp and the teacher his prostitute and somehow it was the fault of Mad Cow Disease.

Wrong. "John Doe" in Korea is "홍길동" (Hong Gil Dong).
