I got more of a problem with lack of capitalization and over use of punctuation. |

It depends on context. I don't use the Queen's English with friends. We can subconsciously drop to a much more informal way of speaking without knowing it depending on our audience. |

The British "have + got" is the same as "have" for Americans.
"I got.." for example, is a case of ebonics. |

not just ebonics. it's very common in appalaichan and NE urban American dialects
When you break it down, everybody who speaks the non-prestige dialect in a language community is looked down upon as stupid. It's all in their snobby heads. |

I say "I got to get going" all the time. I am disgusting. Like a diseased horse carcass or a cup body by-products. Practically the same.
If your going to be a language maven, one must be aware of ones pluralisations. Otherwise, you risk come off sound a little *ahem* low class. |

Maybe the people collectively sound like a single uneducated thug, like some sort of ungrammatical voltron. |

I remember my primary school teacher, Mr Muckley. He was a real old school British Sergeant Major type.
He hated us to use the word 'got' in place of other, more expressive verbs. To this day, I still hate using the word 'got' when I'm writing something.
"I woke up this morning"
"I stepped out of the car"
"I received a nice present on my birthday".
'Got' can be a bit unimaginative sometimes. |
