Hey, you must live in my building! Does one of your neighbours sound like they're being filmed for an amateur production? Very Happy

Seriously though, I'd also appreciate a short "please keep it down" note in Korean.

OKOKOK is right, they will not care about your note, especially if you write 조용해 which is impolite and probably not going to win them over. My suggestion: drive them out!

Yes, so much better to use guerilla warfare than to stick a note on the door the equivalent of "Guys, shut up!!" Rolling Eyes

안녕하십니까?

큰 소리 만들지 마시면 감사하겠습니다

Howdy,

I'd appreciate it very much if the noise were kept to a minimum.

Being driven insane by noisy neighbors?

Sad but true

I'll let you use your imagination as to the tactics available to you, but I have done it twice and the new neighbors (on either side) have been 100X better than the bastards who left. The key is in annoying them relentlessly, and not getting caught of course. Extremely petty and childish, very successful in my experience.

I endorse this

Haha! Funny how ridiculous those online translators work...Here's what it translated your note as:

"Goodbye does? Big sound does not make will drink and will thank"

justin, was that a serious note? i can't tell, i didn't have a lot of sleep.

i don't know how to drive them out, they're above me and i've tried banging on the ceiling with my chair, but nothing changes. eventually i just turn up my music, but when i turn it off again, nothing's changed. it sounds like someone is dribbling a basketball/tennis ball up there, but it sometimes last for hours so i don't know how it can be that...

edit: thanks, i've printed out the note from the link and i've gotten my co-teacher to call the apartment right now... hopefully it'll work

Pleasure to be of service. Yes, the note was serious. I too had noise from above, as you'll see if you read the thread. It's quite the tale.

We sufferers of Korean noisy neighbor noise should stand together, as one, as brothers and sisters and fight for peace and quiet, justice and the compulsory serving of asparagus at breakfast!

btw. Nomad, kinda weird how you were the first to reply in my noise thread reporting no problems and now here you are with the same problem! Good luck. Noisy Koreans are the vermin of the Solar System and stalking them, really fucking with their heads shouldn't be ruled out. That's the only thing Koreans know and respond to and communicate with - noise pollution. It's intrinsic to them.

I have had two disastrous situations with extremely noisy neighbors. That kind of situation can be a deal breaker especially if you have to wake up at 5 or 6am. In both cases, letter writing, pounding on the door, and retaliation accomplished nothing. It sucks because like another poster mentioned earplugs do not drown out the low frequency thuds. I would get really angry and even if the noise did stop I was so angry and worked up that I couldn't get to sleep anyways.
