If you've been working here less than a year, please pro-rate your sick-day use (e.g. 3 months, 1 sick day, = rate of 4 / year.

I've been lucky. The few times I've been sick have been on weekends.

I voted 'one'. (It was my first sick day in four years though, so I was awfully tempted to vote 'zero'.)

What's your motivation for asking BTW?

One in eleven months and 16 days. I'm gonna try to squeeze in another one before I leave. I deserve it.

None. Only once in nearly 4 years in Korea. And my contract hadn't even started yet (hadn't go on my visa run yet). Got some sort of food poisoning (probably bad veggies).

I haven't taken any sick days in Korea, though ironically enough, this is the first time I've had sick days. My jobs in Canada never had sick days. It was "get sick/don't show up and you're FIRED!"

I guess I'm still in the habit of being scared to take sick days, even when I'm sick. Shocked But I never really get *that* sick.

2 in a year and a half.

The current poll results don't reflect the reality of teachers I know though. Practically all teachers I know have taken a sick day and if pro-rated (some guys have just been here a couple of months) i'd put the approximate figure in the 3-4 category. That being said I took my 1st sick day in my 13th month...

Who is the guy who has taken 11-15, what happened? Did you get really sick, have a few minor ailments spread throughout the year, or were you like that poster I read about on here a while back who took every Friday off as a sick day for his last 3 months.

13 years. None.

Last week I was so sick that I sat down to teach, but I was still there.

I usually end up taking 2 or 3 each year.

It was 3 last year.

Five years in Korea...zero sick days. I am another one who seems to get "lucky" by getting sick on the weekend.

I haven't taken any sick days, because we aren't given sick days.

I got the chicken pox 5 years ago. I had to take 3 days off. Other than that, I took 1 other in my 6 years. Happened to be yesterday because both my wife and I had the flu, and we needed to take turns watching the baby while the other was in bed.

Voted more than fifteen, because the motivation of this thread concerns me.
