we have just been smashed in india.
the final scoreline of 2-0 actually flattered the australians i thought...i cant remember a time where our players were so comprehensively beaten; must be a quarter of a century.
this may have "end of an era" written all over it...
if our bowlers cant learn reverse swing, the poms will have us next year as well |

End of an era indeed.
I'm liking the mutual hatred between these two teams. You guys were exposed with the lack of a world class spinner(s). The likes of Warne and McGill don't come around too often and they are the kind of guys that you need playing in India. Comparatvely, Singh and Kumble were up to the task. Their batting line-up was also much stronger. Sehwag not wanted til the last test? Shows how much depth they have. Good stuff India.
Aussie is looking really inexperienced at the moment. Good to see them (especially Ponting) under some pressure. They are looking vulnerable and I'm looking foward to the two tests (lame! y not 3?) against the Black Caps. Look out for Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor who will be hungry for runs against a much weakened Australia attack.
A few things to note:
- What's Symmo up to?
- Will they ban Ponting if he persists with his terribly slow over rate?
- Is Bret Lee on the decline? |

symmonds will be back next week for the kiwi games
i think the slow over rate is the least of the captain's problems. he has seamers that couldnt swing the ball and spinners that couldnt turn it. the bowling attack looked as benign as a nose pimple. they were all sending down straight balls that the indians just picked off at will. when the indians bowled they were getting reverse swing as early as the 30th over and their spinners looked like they were using a different pitch...
the thing is, we averaged 13 indian wickets a test for the first three, and most of them were caught in the outfield or something. if the tests were 8 days long, they could have made 900.
i think our time as clearly the best side has unquestionably gone. maybe there might be 4 teams that share the accolades together - india australia south africa and maybe england.
should be an interesting couple of years... |
