To go to Camiguin you would need to fly to Cayagan De Oro. From there you take a bus to the ferry port. I've never been to the airport, I just took a bus from Davao to Cayagan bus terminal then took another bus to port. Look for the thread of Tiger Beer, I think he had info on getting there.

Quick search found that Seair flys to Camiguin from Cebu. Here is the link: http://www.camiguinisland.net/content/Get%20There.html

Siquijor is far more scenic and interesting than Camiguin. Camiguin has very few beaches. Its coast is almost entirely rocks. Siquijor does not have that problem. And it is in much closer proximity to Negros and Dumaguete city, probably the cleanest city in the Philippines. Go to Siquijor. You won't regret it.

Just a side note: SEAir from Cebu to Camiguin is a SEASONAL flight and not year round.

You will have to call / e-mail them to see if it is flying.

To get to CAMIGUIN, one has to travel one and a half hours from Cagayan de Oro City to Balingoan, Misamis Oriental, and take any of the hourly scheduled ferries across the channels of Mindanao Sea, which dock in either ports of Guinsiliban or Benoni.

There is a regular sea and air transportation from Cebu to CAMIGUIN and vice versa.

I'm thinking Davao now, as it's safe and fun from what I read.

Davao is a great choice.

Heads up on Samal Island. It is SO CLOSE to Davao, you should just do your day trip(s) there and stay at Davao at night.

I made the mistake of staying the night on Samal Island at a resort. First off, as the sun went down, all the MANY people left. Then the restaurant closed down, and so did everything else.

Around 9pm, I couldn't get water or any snacks or anything, just stuck at some expensive resort with NO access to anything.

I'm sure there are many different resorts around, but the one I went to was a very famous one, so I get the impression the others would be the same (at best).

Let me know if you come to Davao. I can pick you up at airport, spend the night in our house and we take you to look for place to stay in the morning near downtown. We are 30 minutes from airport.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not sure if I'll hit Davao since I love Boracay so much (and know what to expect there as well). I'm going to the Phils this time to clear my head given a few personal problems so I'm not really in the exploring mood.

Hmm, what about Davao did you like so much? I love Boracay but perhaps I should try somewhere different this time.

Boracay IS the best location by far, in my opinion! Particularly comparing the two.

Davao is simply another alternative to Cebu. It's just a city in the Philippines with all that cities offers - shopping, restaurants, etc. Nothing that special about it. I just suppose that Cebu and Davao are just very pleasant alternatives to getting a city fix but not having to deal with the mess that is Manila.

If you want to get away from beach surroundings, try this: http://www.edennaturepark.com.ph/index.htm
