Club Night is the last Friday of every month. See the lot of the pubs and make a go of it. Hong Dae is what it is...not too much, but better and more affordable than most neighborhoods.

All the hot chicks you're looking for are to be found at Krispy Kreme.

There are plenty. They usually suck.

Hong Dae was cool back in '93, up until about '97, when it started to go mainstream. It might as well be Itaewon now. Rolling Eyes

The new Hong Dae is #$%. If you can find it, I'll by you a beer. Cool

If I just told you where it was then it would just be Hong Dae in a few years. Wink

I always have a blast in HongDae! Although I do prefer Sinchon over both HongDae and Itaewan.

I really enjoyed the time I went to Hongdae. But since I am a newbie all I know is to avoid Itaweon. So if I am to avoid going to Hongdae where are some other good places to go out into Seoul. What is there in Sinchon? What are the areas around other universities and are they good places to go out?

If you're with friends and going out for food and drinks, who really cares where you are? There are some cool eateries in Hong Dae and in Shinchon (head on in behind the Hyundai Department Store), and some good eats and atmosphere to be had in Itaewon as well.

If you want to hit another area, you can check out the back streets of KonKuk Station to the east, and YonShinNae to the northwest.

Mapo has some great meatfeeds, KangNam station has a ton of pubs and eats, and, hey, has anyone found a hood without a hof?

Have at it. It's a big city. And if you get bored, do a weekend down in Pusan.

I made the mistake of going out in Hongdae a few weeks ago. Never again - and before people jump in with the usual "mainstream, hip hop, poser garbage" - yes, that was there. However, my problem had more to do with the size of these places and the amount of bodies that were squeezed in there. Love hip hop music and love to dance to it, but could barely breath let alone move.

Sucky.

Much preferred Gangnam - Club Circle was sexy albeit overpriced.

What's wrong with Itaewon. Come on!

If you like Tom Waits songs, and drunken Thai sailors and Mr Ladys, where else can they meet in such a seductive stew? Sure, it's not cool, and you can't take a lady there, but since when did those kinds of barriers stop a real idiot?

Let me guess...NB and Harlem?

If you're on facebook, check out the seoulsounds group. Occasionally they post info on hip hop (and other kinds) events that are held at great underground clubs like Cargo in Hongdae. Much more of a positive vibe, without all the bodies and aggression.

Circle is a ripoff. It's packed with beautiful people who have no idea how to have a good time. Everyone just seems to stand around and look at how everyone else is dressed.

15,000 for an Absolut tonic? No, thanks. Rolling Eyes
