i've been looking through my travel guides and online but i wanna know if there is a motel/hotel that you guys really like and always stay in or have friends stay in when they visit. my man and i will be staying in seoul for a week in december and i want a clean place, under 50,000 a night, shower etc.
i have some questions as well. do most guesthouses charge you extra for sharing a double bed in one room? this ain't the 50'sSmile. do you guys think a guesthouse is a better option than just finding a nice motel/hotel for a week?

also i wasn't sure whether to put this in the travel section since it seemed most of those posts were about travel outside the country. thanks for the advice all!

I love Metro Hotel. www.metrohotel.co.kr

Cheap - I believe their rooms are in the range of 40,000 to 50,000 won.

Clean - Never had any problems with cleanliness. Ever.

Center of everything - One of Seoul's sweetest shopping districts is right outside the door, not to mention the subway is good 2.5 minute walk away.

Love, love, love it! Check it out - I am sure you'll feel the same way.

thanks for the info so far. seems metro hotel may have raised their rates quite a bit, the website says a little over 60,000 won for the cheapest business room. and my doesn't imperial palace look....nice.Smile and a hostel? arent those places where you share the bathrooms and the rooms? nice suggestions and all but i havent seen my boyfriend in 5 months so i'm gonna want some private space. plus i dont have to be that cheap. i heard good things about yims guesthouse and even the seoul motel in itaewon. or is it the itaewon motel...i forget. the one above mcdonalds. anyways keep em coming you guys!

www.hotels.com advertises 70% off regular rates and in my experience, they deliver. Don't go to a hostel, for God's sake. Save some coin and check into at least a three or four star hotel that has the budget to advertise online (this means they have the budget to squeak out a few underpriced privies to the underpaid and overworked), especially if you're going in a pair. You can still act like your living large even if you're not paying for it.

Good luck and have a wonderful time in the city we all loathe and love.

Not in Seoul, but every time I went to Pusan, there was this one hotel I always stayed at that was near the entrance to the Russian district across the street from Pusan station.
It is alot bigger than the usual Yogwans I've stayed at in Seoul and the price (the last time I was there) was only 30,000won a night....can't beat that price for as much space as I got.
