Joining a Greek society was one of the best ways to ensure that the only people you socialized with were as decent and well-bred as you. I immediately had close ties with everyone in students council, and if anyone ever messed with me, I hope they don't mind being beat down by half the football team, who were my brothers. Oh yeah, and lets not forget the loose girls.

I never had to worry about running into folk like some of the ones complaining about fraternities in this thread.

the part i bolded is one of my few regrets about joining a fraternity. i hated how the group mentality overwhelmed individuality and self-reliance at times. i can think of far more good than bad regarding my days at the house, but the thought of the "tough guys" in my house tracking down someone who'd "wronged the brotherhood" never sat well with me.

lol didn't think there was such thing as a tame chapter heheh NICE to hear though!

We got into a bit of trouble here and there ..... Cool

It was fun until I was the chapter adviser in grad school and I tried to keep them out of trouble Very Happy but, when I was active schools were a bit more lax on what one could or couldn't do.

I have a box somewhere around my house that contains my original pledge pin, a copy of The Oak, and my regular badge.
