It's difficult to find the motivation to learn Korean, but whenever I see a pretty Korean woman (there are many) walking down the street, I get motivated to put in the hours. But am I wasting my time?

From what I read on these boards, it would seem that the only Korean women likely to be interested in (dating) foreigners who those who can speak English anyway. Have you ever dated a Korean girl whose English was worse than your Korean?

If you are able to speak Korean, you will expand your pool dramatically. It's not true that only Korean women who speak English are interested in dating foreigners. A lot of Korean women who only speak Korean would be open to dating foreigners but can't because of the language barrier. If you're able to speak Korean, you're golden.

Your employment options will also expand quite a bit as your grasp of the language grows.

Honestly kill two birds with one stone. I met my k-girl at a language exchange program while trying to learn Korean. Best of both worlds. And language exchanges I highly recommend. I dont have to pay anything and for 3 hours twice a week I learn korean in a 1on1 situation. because our lessons have to be in english, because I cant form more than 3 sentences atm lol, my K-teacher is getting english practice, so its a win-win for both of us. I also just help out with the advanced level class, which just consists of us talking about random events or thoughts of the day. Pure socialisation and I dont have to prepare anything for them.

As well as the type of women that are in your new expanded pool. Cool

It's much more fun to swim in the deep end. Cool

You better put some long long hours in your studies to reach fluency like Koreans. If you can't, forget it because once you start speaking like a 6 year old, eventually the girl will migrate to the ones who can speak Korean.

Also, there is the problem that once you find a girl that will take you in, she may turn into the clingy type and all your hours of study to reach out to the masses will be in vain.

That can't be the case. Even the Korean species knows that there's a distinct social advantage to speaking with a British accent (nod to the Brits).

Do you know where in Incheon one can sign up for these language exchange programs?

Yes! There's more flirting and socialising than real language study, which is all good.

It all depends on what you're in search of. If you're looking for a long term relationship with someone who cannot speak a word of English, then, yes, you need to study Korean for a long time to have any meaningful relationships. If you're looking just to score a little more quality time at night, speaking like a sixth grader can work wonders.
