What is about Korea that rots your teeth? I barely ever had any dental problems before i came here. 17 months later and i've had 2 fillings, 2 gold cappings, a scaling, one extraction and possibly need 4 more(wisdom teeth), and have two more fillings lined up..
Is it the gimchi?
having said that, i approve of korean dentists, they're normally pretty thorough and skilled... |

actually I think it's because koreans don't floridate their water. Back home I lived near a water floridation plant and didn't even have a filling. I shudder to think what the damage is going to be when I go back. |

I was thinking about this too. Could it be that the toothpastes here are actually made of sugar? I must brush 5 times a day. |

Maybe it's because you're British. |

I have British teeth, and I resent the implication we use bits of string and pieces of wood to keep them in our mouths... it's a simple equation really- the more piss you drink and illicit drugs you smoke when you're a yoof the bigger your dental bill later on... living proof here.
My advice: marry one (a dentist that is).
I went to a guy in Daerim whom took a small toffee hammer to my famed pearly whites, and as none shattered under the welter of blows he then administered, declared them right as rain. Useless git.
Squid, no longer dentally challenged. (you guys should take a butchers at Chinese teeth- now they're scary) |

First off, my choppers are some of the worst in town.
That said, the Chinese ladies' blackened chips turned me on! I can't see any reason why Chinese guys need dog meat to get a woody. It was a refreshing change to see natural form and discoloration. I love lousy teeth on an East Asian woman. It's one of the few things that gets me goin'!
I'm tired of all these huge Korean mouths filled with rows of chiclets. Damn chimpers! |

If worried about the toothpaste, do what I do and go to the black market and buy Colgate, or any of the other American toothpastes on offer. |

I was worried about the same thing. I'm a bit of a heavy smoker, and was going to the dentist for a cleaning every 4 months. Finally I found some Arm & Hammer toothpaste and a good ol' Oral B toothbrush... problem solved. |

Psy: I've heard that as well, they put sugar in the toothpaste here to make the kids want to brush their teeth!!!!!!!
Squid: I was good friends with a cute chinese woman last year, she had an outstanding ass and figure, we hung out but I just couldn't overlook the blackened teeth....why do they have that from China/ I don't think i'll go teach there.
NB. the only thing more excrutiatingly painfull than getting your wisdom teeth pulled, is having the thick nylon-like stitches removed a week later, as happened to me today. Those cords don't dissolve at all, , in fact the whole area had become infected because of them, had to have injections of antibiotic pumped in...aaaahhhh |

Maybe they're lying to you. I had a dentist try to rip me off for a million. When I went home my dentist told me my teeth were fine and I didn't need any work.
That being said, it can happen fast. I had perfect teeth until I was 20, never a problem. Then suddenly you get that first cavity and then it's one every year after that. |

That is just bollocks.
Fluridisation isn't going to make such a big difference to your teeth.
Maybe it was just come-uppance Rapier? How old are you? It could have taken a while for the problems to start, and by the time you did something about them, they had escalated. I haven't been to the dentist in about 6 years, and I am freaking out about my first visit. I know I have to go, and have book marked Feb.
I believe strong, healthy teeth are a result of genetics, a healthy diet, regular teeth brusing, and flossing, and also annual dentist visits. |

Blue flower: a very youthful and handsome 30 years old!!!
Maybe It just hits at around my age... they're not ripping me off, everything I've had done has been at my own request. I want perfect teeth by the middle of this year.
It might take that long, because korean dentists require around 8 consecutive visits before they get everything done.. I guess it's reassuring because they're doing it properly. Its generally better quality dentistry than I ever got elsewhere.. English fillings fall out after a few months.. |

Actually most denists agree that water fluoridation prevents tooth decay. |
