I had a lot of fun living in Shanghai, but after 6 months I realized I was surrounded by gold rush people. Lot's of sharks there and peple who think money is king. In the end I had more fun living in a little country town in China with my real friends.
I also spent 30000 Rmb a month in Shanghai. A beer costs 2rmb in a country town and can cost 120 rmb in Shanghai. Lots to do but quite superficial. |

but actually find it a verminously loathsome and barbarous state and would never visit. I'm very singleminded about this. There are zillions upon squllions of fabulous countries in Europe, the Americas and Australasia and, as such, I can think of no reason at all to visit China. I'd love to travel back in time and see China in the 50s and 60s, but modern-day China I'd rather lick my toilet clean than visit. But not Hong Kong because the Brits showed them how it's done!
Same with Singapore vs Malaysia. I love Singapore, by golly, but I could only visit Malaysia if I was paid an astronomical sum. |
That reminds me...
perhaps it is you who is verminously loathsome?
Just wondering, likes; there's definitely a theme running through some of your posts. |

Yeah it doesn't take more than 10 minutes in that city to realize money is god there.
30,000 rmb/month? Wow. I wonder how many people wish they had 30,000 per year? |

30,000 RMB? From what I understand, that's great money there. May I ask what you were doing there and how you got to earn such a great salary? |

Shanghai is often bad heart Therefore, I do not like to go to Shanghai, a lot
of Chinese people also feel that.
不儿 Yes infants
在夏我要做在上海。 In the summer I want to be in Shanghai.
***This is how google translated it! Is the original meaning close to the translation? |
Very close. 不错儿 actually means 'not bad,' but the 儿 is a slang ending used in Beijing. But by 'not bad' I mean 'quite right,' which is one of the meanings in Mandarin. |
Actually, 不错 means "not wrong". |

If you think that Justin Hale is being rude or malicious, then maybe you haven't seen a lot of China.
I've also run the gambit of cities - including Shanghai - and I find all of what he says pretty accurate. I've been to China twice and will prolly never go back. Too ugly, too rude and too little to do.... unless you like screwing chinese girls for cheap. That's about all China's good for right now. I didn't see any culture (destroyed by the Gov) and too many people chasing the rmb. Lots of free/paid for girls though. |

I worked in a hospital as a Chiropractor. I should have lived more cheaply but I was hanging out with people who had plently of cash and Shanghai is an easy place to spend money.
I was taken to many of the best restaurants and bars but still found the place lacked any depth. The traffic drove me crazy after about 4 months. It is also quite expensive to get an apartment will bonds and such.
Like many places it would be fun if you are young and you are into getting wasted every night.
I still say small cities in China can be fun where you are a bit more famous just for being different. The Chinese can be quite friendly and invite you to many dinners and weddings. |

Yes Beijing has lots of 儿 hua but no one would ever write 不错儿. |
