Hey,

Do any telephone companies offer free international calls with line rental?

Thanks

I know this is counter-intuitive, but thanks to the super-cheapness of VOIP, telephone companies do offer free calls from time to time, perhaps some even internationally.

I remember Skype had a promotion a few years back whereby, for a few months, calls within North America (if I'm not misoverestimating the region size) were free. For all the OP knows, some new start-up right now might be doing the same internationally, and we could all have been using it for weeks, while laughing at the ignorant masses who actually pay for their calls home from Korea.

Unlike tangible things that you pick up and take away with you like beer from a beer-store or sex from a sex-symposium, telephone calls are nowadays an ultra-cheap-to-produce service with relatively infinite supply. For this reason, large telephone companies barely feel the collective suckle when they offer free calls as a short-lived geography-limited promotion, especially when the calls are ad-supported by an annoying intro message.

All of that to say that the OP's question is not absurd.

cheers for the support Korussian! though I should really have mentioned that 'free' being with line rental as I get back home. I want it on the line rather than on the net.

Thanks guys
