A friend is considering accepting a teaching job there. Does anyone know anything about it? Thanks. |

I live in Pyeongtaek, if you tell me where it is I can go visit the school (assuming they know about it). Email me at [email protected] |

This is a small hagwon that teaches English, Japanese, and Chinese. |

If you know about this hagwon, post it here. I have nothing to hide. Let's hear the truth. |

I know this Hagwon. They are about three years old and they moved in near to my first hagwon when I started working in South Korea. To be honest they look absolutely awful and I would recommend that your friend to look elsewhere. I don't know anything about the work culture but I suppose that it would be the usual place to work in Korea (no pension, no health insurance, etc).
As Pyeongtaek is a poor city (with the Ssangyong Factory closing down and jobs being cut), I would recommend another place closer to Seoul (Ori, Suwon, etc). Pyeongtaek is a farming city and they are living in the 17th century and are not that welcoming to foreigners (due to the US Army base nearby).
Get your friend to look elsewhere as one could expect the Hagwon industry in Pyeongtaek to get worse after the cuts at Ssangyong. |
