Interpreting Your Dreams might be nothing more than fun story telling.

But the more and more I ask friends and family about dreams I have had they tell me they too have had those dreams...
I have selected some bazaar dreams for topic...

Example...
Teeth shattering
1: Teeth breaking in my mouth and I'm spitting them out into my hand
I wake in the morning and the first thing I do is check my teeth, very intense dream, I feel like I am awake in my dream saying NOOOOOO my teeth! And in my dream I am scared spitting my teeth out into my hand and crying ohh no my teeth! NOOOOO!!!
I have had this dream maybe about 4 times in my life... and other teeth related dreams...

I have perfect teeth by the way...

2: Falling..
Having a dream where I fall off a building or cliff, and I am just falling, falling and falling, seems to be no end! I never experience myself hitting the bottom or dying in my dream. I heard from someone that its impossible to kill yourself in your dream or see yourself completely dead!
Whenever you get shot or killed, you dont actually die...
I always wake up before I hit the bottom...

3: continous dream..

After an intense dream where you feel like you are really experiencing this dream more so than others, the story goes on and on and your quest doesnt seem to be over, and you awake suddenly due to your alarm clock.
All day you are having slight flashes of the dream. That night you hit the pillow and straight away are transported back into that dream where you left off to continue the dream to finish it...

4: Hair falling out..
I have good hair and have always liked my hair from a young age use to style it all the time and take great care in it, grew my hair long also. Now I keep it short, but of course I can feel my hair is much weaker and thinner as it was in my 20's...

Sometimes I have dreams of me grabbing my hair and chucks of it just fall out! I keep grabbing my hair and it keeps coming out in bunches in my hand! I start to cry in my dream and shout NOOOOO!!!!! NOT MY HAIR!!! NOOOO!! While I am sleeping I feel like my hair is really falling out, and I tell myself it's ok I am dreaming now ... then I doubt myself and ask AM I? Oh god is this a dream?
I wake from this dream and first thing I do is check my hair...
Same as my tooth dream... I have had this dream about 3 or 4 times in my life also...
Now yes I liked my hair alot, but my friends who were no as vain as me with their hair also had dreams of there hair falling out..

Now I selected these dreams to share with you because I think some of you might have had similar dreams...
many scientists only have theories and really dont have the answers...

You think there is meaning in Interpreting dreams?

Quote:
There is no proven fact on why we dream, which is why there are so many theories on the topic. There is Freud's theory that dreams carry our hidden desires and there is Jung's theory that dreams carry meaning, although not always of desire, and that these dreams can be interpreted by the dreamer. After these theories, others continued such as the Cayce theory in that dreams are our bodies means of building up of the mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Finally came the argument between Evans' theory and the Crick and Mitchinson theory. Evans states that dreaming is our bodies way of storing the vast array of information gained during the day, whereas Crick and Mitchinson say that this information is being dumped rather than stored. Whichever theory is true, we may never know

Every 6-months or so I have a dreams about Crocodiles. Once, a few years ago, I dreamt I was at a party in a pub back home. Lots of people were stood about talking and drinking. On a long table there were various types of food. The centre piece of which was a large crocodile, which was laid along the length of the table, on it's back, belly facing upward. No-one seemed at all surprised that we'd soon be dining on crocodile, but I was intrigued and so walked over to take a closer look. I stood peering at it for a few moments and can even remember the pale gray colour of it's belly and the dirty nails on the end of its feet. Curious as to what crocodile might taste like, I took a knife and started to try and cut off a piece of it's flesh. Upon doing so, and without warning, it suddenly sprang to life and bit me, clasping hold of my arm with its jaws, which caused me to wake up.

What does it mean? I haven't the faintest idea.

My dreams are never definable by those examples you posted. I have never experienced teeth shattering, hair falling out, naked dreams, falling off cliffs, or any kind of stereotypical dream typically talked about by dream specialists. I believe that about 10% of our dreams have some useful meaning to you. Either, a secret message that is telling you to stop/start doing something, or your subconscious trying to tell you something. I think these special dreams leave a lasting impression after experiencing them. The following are classic signs of such a dream: You rarely forget the dream after experiencing it, it's usually a very short dream, you wake up feeling like you are completely lost and often you feel upset. The rest of our dreams are merely visual ways of presenting our thoughts. Stress can be represented by seeing insects in dreams, for example. Most of the time, dreams are bullshit - just spend a Sunday morning and sleep until the middle of the day. You'll experience all kinds of nonsensical dreams that have no meaning whatsoever. That is how we dream 90% of the time.

Not sure how useful interpretation is, but I believe dreams can have meaning. They are part of consciousness. They hold desires, fears, and all the rest. People and situations that arise may have some significance.

If you have dreams about teeth falling out, it signifies you are self-conscious about your looks. Teeth represent physical beauty and the absence of them show that the person is thinking about how he/she is getting old, losing good looks, or have been thinking about their looks.

The left brain thinks everything must have a meaning. I just enjoy my dreams.

I often have rat dreams in which I think I am being crawled over by dozens of rats.

The teeth falling out dream is another one of my greatest hits.

Being chased by a wild animal such as a polar bear or cougar also pops up from time to time.

I think it's definitely the middle ground...some mean something, some are crap.

Have any of you ever read in your dreams? And remember what you read? I've heard it's rare.

The only re-occurring dream I have is the one where I'm walking somewhere, then I trip, and the sensation of falling jerks me awake again. I can never let myself fall. Maybe it's a metaphor or something, or maybe it had something to do with a half-empty bottle of peanut butter.

When I was a little kid I used to be terrified of E.T. I saw the movie and had nightmares for years. In my nightmares, I kept walking up to my old, Victorian style mirror and looking at myself only to see E.T.'s ugly mug glaring back at me.

One night, a time after Xmas, I decided to solve the problem once and for all. I went to sleep with my trusty Red Ryder BB Gun (TM) and I wielded it in my dream, where I managed to blow the f*cker's head clear off. It was a proud time. I never had that dream again after that.

While awake consciousness tends to be fragmented with conflicts between thoughts. There's a lot of should and should not, a censor, and the idea that there is a center in charge of it all, a self, but it's all still thought. Surely there's no me outside thought, is there? When asleep this idea relaxes, and consciousness becomes slippery. More fantastic things happen. Perhaps they were suppressed during the day. Our awareness tends to be limited, and dreams offer up things lost in the daily conflicts of thought. There's significance in the unfinished business. The mind rarely goes quiet enough to have a good rest. Dreams are a continuation of daily thought, with more wildness, less of the censor. So maybe dreams signify things we are unable or unwilling to perceive when awake and in limited awareness.

(props to Krishnamurti)

I make it a rule never to tell people about my dreams. Generally your dreams are much less interesting than you think.

teeth falling out is supposed to mean you may be about to lose something or someone close to you. before i left for korea i had a dream that me and my boyfriend both lost our teeth at the same time.

i also dream about snakes alot. the problem is that they can mean so many different things that i've stopped bothering to analyze when they show up in my dream. usually i'm being bitten or suddenly there is a snake i can't get away from. they have sexual meanings of course but can also mean negativity in your life.

oh and i actually dream about zombies a lot. supposed to mean you are bored, or emotionally detached from things around you or with your situation at the moment. come to think of it i had those dreams alot more when i was stuck in my old city working a crappy retail job just waiting to do something else so maybe there's a little truth to it:). of course there was a zombie parade in one dream and i dunno what that was about. dreams are weird end of story.

I've been dreaming a lot more lately. Seems like they change often from time to time.

I use to have some where I was frozen and unable to get somewhere that I needed to go - the legs stopped working or were in the process of freezing up, etc.

I've had naked dreams...all the variations it seems.

I often also use to have one where I was finding old coins everywhere and trying to pick them up as fast as I could, etc.

A friend of mine has had recurring teeth dreams since she was a child. She dreams her teeth are falling out and growing in...and the rate is just too intense, so she's constantly spitting out teeth and growing them back again. So bizarre. Whatever that means, it's crazy.

I have a very distinctive 'dream world'...at least I think I do. I guess it could just be dreaming deja-vu, who knows. My dream world is so real to me, I always think I borrowed it from a movie, but nothing feels familiar.

I like hearing about dreams from the people who are closest to me. I don't really think about them beyond their insane entertainment value, but then again I'd be a bit hypocritical if I thought about dreams a fair bit then said they didn't mean anything.

I guess I think dreams are more about stored information that's being processed...rather than some overarching mythology.

Did you ever have a dog that dreamed about chasing cats or squirrels? They're paws obviously running and they'd let out little whimpers.

Also, I talk in my sleep sometimes. Not sure what the hell that's about.
