|
|
hey there.
this is my first time using emule after years of using limewire - the dashboard seems a whole lot more complicated but there sure does seem to be a lot more available, including stuff i'd given up on downloading
But
after doing a search for a song, a vid, another song etc - absolutely nothing's happening - not even 1% progress - is this normal? |

Get u-torrent and start looking for decent trackers. |

Yeah, connect to the servers, look in the bottom right to see if you are connected. There's no progress bar when searching, you just have to wait. So if nothing pops up, it is possible there are just no results. |

this style of p2p will only ever bring problems....people still using limewire and emule are doing themselves no favors. |

i used to use these kind of programs. i actually quite liked shareaza back in its day ... but it's always a fight to download music that isn't completely shit due to tainted versions being uploaded by the music industry.
the other downside is that these systems are reliant on networks which can be easily shut down ... a'la napster.
torrents do basically the same thing as emule, it's just a different system. you can get music (single songs or entire albums) and you can use the download options to pick and choose what you want.
bittorrent has really taken off and you'd probably find a lot more on it than you realise.
go to mininova.org and have a browse at the stuff they have. then try isohunt.com and thepiratebay.org ... i'm sure you'll find everything you could ever want.

People still actually use these??? Do these folks still use 8-track tapes and keep the polyester leisure suits as well? I don't think I've even thought about these programs in 7 years. |

I agree totally that torrent searching is much better. I use scrapetorrent.com and utorrent. But when you can't find what you want, you have to try other places. Limewire is very good and quick for Western Music, & emule seems to be better for Korean music. Torrent searching for very small files isn't always very productive... |

Ive never not been able to fnid something on torrents that i was looking for.
Even small files are fine, i.e. single songs etc, just choose the song from the list when you download the torrent and de-select everything else. |

As far as music is concerned, soulseek is the place to be. I guarantee there are things there you can't find in torrents. |

For Korean music this is not the case. Very few Korean music torrents. |

I know this already and have been using torrents for 3 years. I have membership at quite a few private trackers but also use the large torrent indexing sites too.
What I was getting at was what is wrong with emule?
