I have been here since October and a guy comes to school and says I have a Gas Bill for 269,000 won. I feel like am being robbed. Suggestions, Cooments? Also they said I had some special kind of gas company that was more expensive lol GAS is GAS.

If you live in a one room, gas bills tend to be higher, a lot higher. However, the most I paid last year was around 150,000. That was in December, January and February. I'm just hoping this isn't a sign of the things to come.

You must have a leak somewhere after the meter or there's an illegal tap after your meter. Better physically inspect and then get someone on it.

I got a big American style stove with oven that I use every day since I cook for myself 49 out of 50 times and my gas bill has never exceeded 20,000 in a month. Last year, I lived in a one room villa apartment and the gas was 10,000 to 15,000 a month using a 2 burner range every day for coffee, some morning heating, and cooking 1 to 2 times a day. I cooked my lunch, because there's not much available, but the food is what normally costs, often more, than eating in restaurants; not gas, water, and electric though sometimes villa landlords bill you and rob you blind.

ask for paperwork with a breakdown of the amount of gas used, the months, etc. get it on official letterhead from the company, i.e. not something written right there by some guy. they're either charging you for what the previous tenant used or charging you in advance for the next few months. either way, paperwork is essential, even though they'll probably fight tooth and nail against it. it's not 'impossible', they just don't feel like doing it.

Although in the spring and summer months my gas bill is around 5000 won.

Demand to see the bill. Check the dates on it, the address and the apartment number.

Think the most I had to pay last Winter was around 100,000 per month for my gas bill, but I have a pretty big 3-bedroomed apartment with a lot of floor-space. Check your thermostate as well and make sure you haven't been leaving the heating on all day whilst you're at school.

Sounds like previous tenant didn't pay up. Ask for the bill and talk to your school.

Even when the other tenant didn't pay up, that's expensive. I received my first bill (they give it to me in my mailbox) and it had the last three months on it (I've only been here a month). It was for 16,000 won or so. I just paid the whole thing because it wasn't really that big a deal. But if it would have been for 500,000 won due to how yours appears priced, I'd have blown a gasket.

I live in a 3 room place in a large apartment complex, in winter sometimes id leave the heating on all day cos it snows alot where i live. If your running the floor heating this is what will be eating your gas bill.

Most mine ever got to was about 160,000 and that was heating on 24/7 for a month. during Jan when it was coldest.

Could also be that they havnt read your gas meter in a while and are simply making a guess-timation as to what it is and billing you accordingly, if this is the case then you will be in credit for your next bill.
