What's wrong with the search function on here??
Anyway, I need a GEPIK contract to look over, but in the mean time you can help me by giving me info on voluntary resignation. What's the process and what kind of penalties would I be paying?
Thank you much! |

It is downloadable from the GEPIK website.
Do you need the one from spring 2008 or fall 2008 (they are a little bit different from each other) ? This is the one from spring 2008.

In regards to resigning (I had to assume you are on your first contract and not an extension/renewal):
IF you resign AFTER the 6 month mark there is NO penalty other than loss of the airfare home and severance.
If you resign BEFORE the 6 month mark you will need to repay the 300k settlement allowance and your airfare TO Korea.
If you give proper notice (as per your contract) you will get your deposit back (less any outstanding utility or maintenance bills on your apartment).

There were 2 for 2008. One for spring 2008 - spring 2009 and then fall 2008-fall 2009. The latter has more vacation time (up to 20 days + rural allowance as compared to 14 days).
The link above is the one for spring '08. The one for fall 08 is on the Korean side of the website and the one for spring 2009 has not been published yet (primarily due to currency issues). Hopefully it will be out before the end of Dec but may not be released until Jan 1009.

Oh, I meant 2009, which you mentioned now. Thanks for the information. I'd like to renew my contract as soon as possible. It's a shame these things always come out late. |

Any idea on whether or not they are raising salaries due to the decreased value in the won? I wonder if GEPIK will have a hard time filling positions next March because of people leaving |
