have many of you on this forum traveled on a 1 way ticket to Korea on a tourist without problems/questions raised?
I plan to apply for an F4 visa when I am in Korea (cant do it back home for several reasons) so plan to arrive on 1 way ticket and tourist visa. Just wondering if many of you have done this? |

IF you have an actual VISA then you won't have a problem.
If you plan to come over on a visa waiver (stamp on arrival) you MAY have a problem.
The problem WILL arise at the check-in counter in your HOME country.
The airline is the one who gets fined and pays for your departure/removal if you are refused entry for any reason so the airlines are the ones to get anal about boarding you without onward/return passage or a real VISA in your passport.
Just be prepared to purchase a refundable return or onward ticket.

| thanks for the reply ttompatz......do you think there would be any issues if you say you plan to go to Fukuoka by Ferry to Japan? Or do you have to have some sort of physical ticket to show them in the even they do ask? |

probably not gonna fly. If they are suspecting you for possible illegal overstay in the first place, that answer might only make them laugh in your face as they deny your entry. |

I came in on a one-way ticket with just my passport. The immigration officer asked what I would be doing. I said that I had to finish gathering my visa papers before I go to Japan for my visa. He said, "OK," and then asked if I could speak Korean. He never asked where my departure ticket was.
I have heard of other people who had to buy a departure ticket on the spot. I wouldn't sweat over the situation. Just be ready to buy a departure ticket if they tell you to. |

Like I said... the issues come at the check-in gate in YOUR country, NOT here with immigration.
They MAY give you a hard time. They may not. It all depends on the agent at the check-in counter.
Just be prepared to purchase a refundable ticket and you will be fine.
(they probably WON'T take your word for it that you are going by ferry to Japan).

| I did this once. I bought a refundable Korean Air ticket before I came. Once I passed immigration (who never asked to see it), I refunded it. The fee to refund it was 30,000 won. |

| Depends on where you are leaving from, but I have done it twice (out of HK and Jakarta) and never had an issue. |
