Something interesting is that the only New Zealanders I have ever met have been extremely easygoing and helpful. I met one in Vietnam, several back home in the US, one in Canada, and now some here in Korea- one on this forum went quite out of his way to help me.
Not sure if that's the norm everywhere but I would really like to visit New Zealand someday and meet more of these people. Wish more Americans abroad had this easy-going friendliness.
Any of you find the same?

Never visited there, but I'd like to. Only thing I know about it is Lord of the Rings has some awesome scenery! Cool

Besides the fact that they tend to talk like they have a mouth full of marbles I've found them to generally be cool.

They're warm, fuzzy, sweet, and have seeds so tiny you can eat them. There's nothing like a pack of 5 kiwi's for 3,500 Won, especially the sweeter yellow ones.

I found the kiwis to be friendly, but immune to grief. They don't feel the need to rush home if mom dies or allow grief to interupt their lives. I understand it has to do with their ancestors coming from England so their culture adopted to being too far from England. Since they couldn't run home to England back in wooden ship days, they learned to deal with being marooned on an island in optimism. And the best thing for survival so far from home was taking on an outgoing open minded easygoing attitude instead of being anxious and worrying too much. The values brought over from England and how being so far from home effected them still live on today. I think it would be nice to not be so uptight like the Americans and like how this small country takes a neutral stance.

Nice to hear.....

I think generally most if us who travel abroad have a very similar outlook on life and the world and all we want to do is experience it and meet other people.

I havn't come across anyone from home who was a dick, so far, mainly because those kinds of people simply aren't interested in traveling and having these kinds of experiences.....and im glad they stay back in NZ.

Though, don't go to NZ thinking everyone will be the same, sure its full of a lot of great people but you get dickheads everywhere you go - remember then.

I live in Gyeongnam too, and one of my best friends over here is a soccer-playing Kiwi named Paul. He isn't one of the Kiwis you've met by any chance, is he?

If so, I agree. He's a cool guy.
