|
|
well, almost!
Munster invoked the famous spirit of their 1978 predecessors but ultimately it wasn't quite enough as the All Blacks came back to snatch a nerve-wracking and precious 18-16 victory in Limerick today.
Down 13-16 with four minutes left, the All Blacks finally kept their cool to engineer an overlap for left wing Joe Rokocoko to step inside his old teammate Doug Howlett and score the winning try.
The 30th anniversary of Munster's 12-nil win - the only Irish win over the All Blacks - certainly lived up to its billing.

I don't usually care about rugby but since my wife is South African and I have been there i've been taking notice. The kicker for the Irish sucks (i think he was the backup however). Missed opportunities sank the Irish. They should have won easily and now will face a tough draw come WC qualifier time. |

What's with the Welsh sides of late. Wales used to be in the forefront of Rugby, but they have certainly declined. Llaneli beat the All Blacks, as did Newport a while back.
So was Howllett playing for Munster? |

As a rugby league adherent, I'm officially required to sneer down my nose at the geriatric-paced farce that is rugby yawnion, but that match was awesome. |

What a great game. The Munster boys almost did it. They were missing a number of their first choice players, currently with the Irish team (8?). Could have easily been a different story. This was one game I would have loved to have been watching at the park. The crowd were right behind their boys, but so respectful when kicks were being taken, by both sides. A lesson to be learned by others. I say (along with many others)'Bring back the mid-week games, when a team's on tour'.
BTW Manlyboy. Kiwis 26, Aussies 18 0n Saturday night. |

Yeah, that dead silence during goal kicks was amazing. And the kiwis on the Munster side stepping out and doing the haka in front of the all blacks! The whole thing was pure theatre.
rednblack, by "26-18" I can only assume you mean 26 missed tackles by the kiwis, and 18 line breaks to Australia. |
