It takes so little time to level up, if you're already 40 just plow on in. It'd take a couple of days really.

I've heard 40-50 is rough, though. If I had 8 hours a day to dedicate to WoW, I'd totally do just that...but, you know, with work and life and stuff... Smile

What about paying for WoW with my Korean bank card? Seems like it won't work since the subscription setup page requires a valid US zip...

Can anyone confirm either way?

I am a little frustrated because I get a "Error 202" when I try to buy the update from their website and also re-activating my subscription. I think it's because I am in Korea but I am not wasting money to call their worthless billing center... maybe I will try getting a friend to type the info for me back in the states?

I took a break for a while to play Warhammer but now ready to play some WoW again!

Yeah, i've been having the same error. A lot of people are having problems, not just in Korea, but all over, even in the states.

I couldn't use my US credit hard for some reason here in Korea. I had my sister do it in the States and it worked just fine. There was an 800 number to call in and do it over the phone, but the time wasn't convenient for me.

I went to a website called hidemyip and donloaded software to hide my ip so when I dl'd trial it came in English. That done I had to use a proxy site to register for a free trial account and I had to try 5 proxy sites before it worked. I have my hunter upto about 16 and I'm at crossroads. Wtf...

You DO NOT need to use any proxy software!

You can sign up for WoW in Korea perfectly fine, and play it, as long as noone logs onto your account outside of Korea within, say, a week of you.

Blizzard watches where you login to your account. If they see a login in USA one day, then a login from Korea three hours later, they will ban you for account sharing.

Now, for the guy wanting to know how to get his trial account going.

Start by going here.
https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/authkey.html

Enter your trial account authentication key.
If your trial account key doesn't work, politely send a PM to one of us WoW veterans, politely asking for a "Refer a friend key for World of Warcraft".

Use accurate information when signing up. Use your real full name. Use a valid phone number. Use your postal address from back home. Use your usual email address.

After you create your account, you will be given a link for downloading the client.

First, you will download a small program, approx 300-400KB in size. This program will be called a "Blizzard Downloader".
You will need to open ports in any firewalls you run so that this program may access the internet.
When you run this downloader, it will ask you where you want to save the install files. Pick a location on a harddrive with plenty of space.
This program will then proceed to download all of the rest of WoW. We are talking 1-2 gigabytes in size, so it is going to take a long time. Day or so.
If you close the program, or turn off your computer, what you downloaded so far will not be lost. It will simply continue when you turn it back on again. When you run the program again, it will again ask where to save the install files; be sure to choose the same location you chose earlier.
After you've downloaded WoW, you will then need to download any remaining patches. This may be about 2-3 small patches around 100MB or so.

Then, login and have fun. You will have 10 or 14 days to play your trial account.

Realm: Jubei'thos
Faction: Horde
Guild: Midnight runners

Since trial accounts can't send messages to others until they message you first, you'll have to get someone in the guild to message you. Post your characters name here.

What the hell's wrong with Jubei'thos? On Monday and Wednesday, there was an hour wait just to get in to the battlegrounds. Is it always like that with that realm?

Oh man, all the main aussie servers are pretty much no-man's land right now. I transfered over to Saurfang, the new, free server, and shit's been smooth.

Lots of people playing in the battlegrounds probably. Not suprising when two new ones just came out.

Remember that the battlegrounds are cross-realm, and that the battleground servers actually have a cap on how many battleground instances can be running at a time.
If there was no cap, then as more and more battleground instances would be opened up, more RAM would be used on the server, and the second the server runs out of RAM, it has to start paging memory...
...lets just say, when that happens, everything will slow to a crawl!
Thats why they cap the number of instances that can be running at a time. For battlegrounds, once the battleground instance cap has been reached, everyone waiting to get in to a battleground has to wait for one already running to finish.

Still not sure why anyone would roll on a med/high pop server in WoW. I mean, in a game like WAR, a decent population is important for the RvR aspect, but with the cross-realm BG's in WoW, there's really not much that would make me desire to roll on a server with a queue.
