If I made phone calls to the U.K. some of them to call centres for banking issues, how much do you think is the total cost, the calls were done from the landline in my apartment.

The total duration of all calls was about 1 hour.

I didn't have a phone card and I needed to make the calls.

What do you think is the total cost (damage) in won?

You are smart guy. Get Skype. The cost of a phonecall from Skype to a landline in the UK is 25won/minute. So that hour's worth of calls would have set you back W1500.

That could be 200-300,000 won! Be prepared.
I made similar mistakes when I first came here. Then I downloaded Skype and my troubles were over.

When I have to call my bank back in the states, I use Skype.
When I first arrived, I didn't have a computer in my apartment, and I had to make a banking-related call. That call ate up a 10-dollar phone card in about 6 minutes. "Too hell with that", said I. I downloaded Skype, and that was that.

Total cost of my last three calls to my bank:

1. Zero
2. Zero
3. Zero

My bank uses an 800-number, which are free using Skype, but very expensive using those international phone cards you can get from KT.

I got the bill today. The total cost was just under 60,000 won, not too bad.
