This country just keeps getting better.

My Cheon won is worth 68 cents.

The weather sucks.

And now this:

Koreans getting paid to snitch. What happened to the "we" mentality? Looks like its "me" now, and in greater form than in Western countries.

Yes lets blame Korea for George Bush tanking the American Economy.

Lets make comments about the weather even though Korea resembles Arizona or Nevada in summer, and North Dakota or Wisconsin in the winter.

As for the snitching, I guess they dont have snitches back in the states eh?

Nobody snitches on Immigrants back home, NO!

No snitching? Where are you from, LA? I'd love it if people were to get money for catching scooters on the sidewalk or cars running red lights in school zones. Those are safety issues. The plastic bag issue makes this form of citizen on patrol compensation seem a little petty, but think of the broader implications if you could give some adjumma $10 a ticket for every red light, or $20 for every scooter on the sidewalk.

You mean if I just go around and film all those little grocery stores handing out free bags I can make money?

How dare they break the law?

Actually, anytime I'm offered a bag, I always tell them no thanks.

People who try to make a living off that kind of stuff are pretty petty.

Interesting news story though, thanks for posting it. I would have never seen the story if it hadn't been for you.

Although the guy has been a total nightmare, you're giving him too much credit for that one. This economic crisis was brought on by sustained policies carried out over decades by concerted players. He was just the meatball left holding the bag when the shit finally came crashing down.

Uh, obviously you've never been to any of those places. Arizona in the summer means temps WELL over 100 F with low humidity. ND or Wisconsin in the winter are both much colder and much snowier than South Korea. If there are states that have comparable weather to South Korea, I'd say maybe PA, MD, or Ohio. But you've probably never been to any of those places, either. Rolling Eyes

Respectfully disagree with you on ND, having lived there for years. Damn cold, but comparatively little snow. The rest is right on.

Hey dipshit, I've been here a hell of a lot longer than you. I'm not a newbie here bitching about everything non-American and "Why do Korenas do this/that crazy shit?" No need for another person to apologize for Koreans. Do you think I don't know what the weather is like in winter? I've been through 5 of them. Do you think I blame Koreans for the weather? Of course not, but I can still vent about it. Do you think I blame Koreans for the falling value of the won? Well . . . I'm not an expert, but I'd say their past decisions do have an impact on the current situation. Of course you quit your job on Wall Street to come teach English, so you probably know better. As for the snitching, yes, where I grew up snitching was highly frowned upon . Of course it exists. But it usuallly exist in the form of people trying to get themselves out of a jail sentence. There are paid informants, but I consider them police or crooks-turned-police. What was shown in that video totally doesn't effect me at all. I'd be the reciient of the free bag, not the giver of the bag. But it does surprise and sicken me to see the goverment promoting this kind of petty behavior.

It's retarded that someone is running a business teaching people to snoop. I'm quite disgusted by the pettiness of it all. I could understand if it was about something serious, but fucking plastic bags? Ay carumba.

Paying people to snitch is disgusting.

What else is disgusting? If you snitch in the USA, or at least many parts of it, you get paid back, often with violence or death.

What's even more disgusting? Korea will pay snitches for minor offenses, but violent rapists or child molesters often spend 0-6 months in prison.

0-6 months for molesting a child. Disgusting.

Thanks goodness we have upstanding citizens like Mr. Moon Sun Uk to protect us against evildoers like that small family-run convenience store on the corner of your street. What an honorable living he makes. Let's hope nobody reports him to the authorities for being a gigantic douche bag.

Ooops - Moon Sun, I just accidentally threw some paper into the cardboard pile of the recycling! I guess I'm a criminal. Also, I hope you weren't snooping me this morning 'cause I took a sh!t and threw the toilet paper in the bowl instead of the wastebasket... Embarassed

If the Wire has taught me anything, it's that 'stop snitchin' only serves to keep Stringer out of jail, while Wallace gets dropped.

RIP Wallace.

What about the people that run red lights at school crossings or the scooters on the sidewalk?
