Well, it's a huge defeat for homosexuals. It is my belief that this has little to do with mormons. I believe that a number of people feel threatened by stealthy/secretive kindergarten and elementary school attempts to influence future generations to be more tolerant of homosexuality. By that, I mean sneaky tactics to teach children pro-homosexual material in the classroom. This has really upset a lot of people -- and not just the religious right.

In my view, there were a lot of people who voted to allow gay marriage in the past, who changed their vote this time around. They were content with respecting what a gay person did with their own private lives. But as soon as the gay political machine began trying to change school policies in sneaky/secret ways, a lot of people took a step back and saw the bigger picture. They changed their vote.

One misguided kindergarten teacher does not make a "stealthy/secretive kindergarten and elementary school attempt" at subverting America's youth. Putting spin on a foxnews article, pretty sneaky tactics, Bass.

This is but one instance in many similar attempts to teach an acceptance of gay lifestyle in classrooms. Incidentally, this also happened in California, which makes it quite valid for this discussion.

It's not a 'gay issue'. It's a minority rights issue.

Bullshit! Let's make bestiality, child molesters, polygamists and necrophiliacs minorities, too! More stupid, fuzzy liberal thinking!

Oh look, the missing link came out to play. Try thinking before you type.

What is the problem in teaching acceptance of alternative lifestyles? We teach kids to accept people from other cultural backgrounds. Why not teach them about gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people? Why exclude this group of people?

Furtherrmore, this is what sunk them with the black vote. Most blacks resent having their struggles compared to the plight of gays'.
You can be a closet gay but try being a closet African American. There's a difference. If gays kept their mouths shut and their lifestyles to themselves they wouldn't recieve discrimination. Blacks can't hide or cover up the fact that they are black.

Why should homosexuals keep their mouths shut? Free speech doesn't count for them? Everyday people are confronted with images of heterosexuality in advertising, watch films and sitcoms bursting with heterosexual innuendo and scenes oozing with heterosexual sex and relatively few people have a problem with it. But gays wanting the same is not acceptable.

Gays having to keep their mouth shut and their lifestyles to themselves is discrimination.

May I suggest the motion picture 'White Chicks'. Anyway, not sure anyone is saying that the gay rights movement is 'the same' as the African American struggle. Just that there are similarities.

Do six million people have to die for it to be defined a genocide?

Because it doesn't need to be "taught" in a public school at all. It is, in its own way, a belief system, and should be classified as a religion. Public dollars should not be spent to "teach" alternative lifestyles.

You are right that it shouldn't be taught. Even equal rights for women shouldn't be taught, but it shouldn't be banned either. If a book shows a woman as a CEO, then should it be banned because it is a belief system that says women should have equal rights? Many people int he world have the belief system that women should be at home, and only at home.

Second, being gay is not a belief system.

Of course it needs to be taught. Homosexuality, like heterosexuality, is normal human behaviour, and someone's sexual orientation should no more be the basis of discrimination than skin colour or political creed. Also, since we spend public tax dollars on educating youth about heterosexual sex, I think it only fair that we spend public dollars on educating youth about homosexual relationships. After all, gays pay tax dollars as well.

Homosexuality is not a belief system, nor a religion. Homosexuality is simply a difference in preference with which sex you prefer to couple with. Why do so many people have a problem with homosexual love? We should be happy for two people in love, regardless of whether the couple is a man and a woman, two men, or two women.

This is why censorship is a bad thing. I never need to argue with this wacko again and if it ever comes up, I can just refer back to this post.

I can recognize that its an ugly sentiment but also appreciate the humor. It provokes a gut-laugh.

Threads like this should be featured widely in the Korean media. Koreans should decide if they want sodomites, their apologeticists and propaganda spreaders teaching thier children. I expect they wouldn't. How's that for a norm? Mainstream people who don't buy into all this PC garbage.

Bottom line, Prop 8 was defeated by voters in PC California. It's not mainstream or even normal if so many people around the world and thru history are against it. Like I said, Koreans should be aware of all the PC weirdos who want to teach (and probably molest) their children that it's OK to be a deviate.

Maybe they should deport them.
