This Christmas I was thinking about visiting for a week.

Should I buy a one way ticket here in LA, (about $650) and then once I'm in Korea, buy the return flight home?

I was thinking that way would be cheaper since $1 = 1400W right now.

I've never bought a one way ticket in Korea back to the US. Anyone know if it's cheaper this way?

Thanks.

Won't be cheaper cause tickets are priced in dollars and then converted to won for sale here... so you get hit with the exchange rate spread twice.

A 2nd problem may arise when they don't let you on the plane in LA without a return ticket or right of residence. (return or onward passage is a requirement of the visa waiver program).

3rd, one way tickets are USUALLY priced at about 75% of the cost of a return ticket so your BASE PRICE for 2-one way tickets will be about 150% of the cost of a return ticket.

I suggest booking round-trip and using a Korean-American travel agency to find the cheapest rate (at least that's what I found leaving from NY)

For RT flights originating in the USA: www.asaptickets.com.

They're the best and I've used them in the past.

They offer "open-ended RT tickets" if you twist their arm.
