|
|
Hi,
I've recently been contacted through my site by a "writer for TBS Radio Show 'Drive Time' in Seoul." They want me to be a guest on their show, and they have offered to pay as well.
Has anybody heard of this show or not? I can't find it anywhere on Google, so I'm not sure if it's legit or not (after all, Google is the grand legitimizer). I'd like to know if anyone actually listens to it before I trek all the way out to Seoul.

You can listen to TBS English programs on the Web but well, it will be on the FM dial so people will listen to it. If TBS is gonna go the Arirang or KBS World Radio route, it'll staff the radio team with a few foreigners and a lot of airheaded gyopos from Los Angeles who happened to land the gigs because they are bilingual (and nothing else).
Don't expect quality but hey, give it a shot if you want to. |

It's also likely outside the scope of your visa unless you are on an f-series visa |

Actually, the fact that the stations don't have to sponsor them on E-7 visas is another big thing. I was offered jobs from TBS, EBS radio, and Arirang (majored in radio/journalism) but the buck stopped when they realized they had to provide me with a visa in order for me to work there full time.
If you're married to a Korean or you're a Gyopo you're golden, though. |

Shouldn't say this but my GF is about to work for TBS; it's legit, they need people badly. |

But generally don't pay very well.
I went thorugh a couple of weeks with them negotiating and setting up a program - only to have them ask me to "accept 60% of the pay now, and the rest in a few months" |

How is the pay? Any oddities (like the one I mentioned above)? |

never heard any oddities..
I know people have had visas given to them to work there..
and the pay is good
a lot of expats involved there... the biggest issue has been not enough quality expats |
