Greetings and Salutations,

I have a job offer to teach in Suwon and also one in Cheonan. Anyone have first hand experience in either one of those cities? Muchas gracias.

Never heard of it. It might just be a regular old school.

Cheonan is a small city. It's dirty, but not as dirty as bigger cities, and it's noisy, but not as noisy as other cities. You've got fast food joints here to quell hamburger/chickenburger desires, but the Western restaurants are currently weak sauce. Some good foreigners here and lots of support, as long as you know the right people. Night life isn't anything special, but there definitely is one. If you don't like the hustle and bustle of big cities, Cheonan's alright, and you can make weekend getaways to Seoul or wherever. But if you're a big city person, or like to stay active, Cheonan's not the best place to be.

I've never worked in Suwon, but it's bigger, and closer to Seoul. More Western restaurants, more shopping centers, more of everything. I've heard that the night life isn't all that great there, though. Be careful to make sure whether you'll be in Suwon, Yeongtong, Singal, or Yongin, because they are all relatively close, yet the atmosphere in each place is very different.

Suwon:

One of my first jobs was in Suwon.

I honestly didn't care for it all that much compared with Seoul or Ilsan. I found things disorganized, dirty, and even the transportation system (buses!) were difficult to catch.

They have a new subway station, but that's just fluff in the pudding.
