Filipino ESL teachers in 3, 2, 1....
I mean, if the won doesn't recover, and fast, there is going to be a teacher shortage. The won won't recover fast.
Oh yeah, and unemployed American auto workers are not going to make up for a teacher shortage. |

I wonder how fast people will start heading for the airport?
For those of us from the US, is this even WORTH it anymore with bills to pay at home? Some of us (myself included) don't have the option of not sending money home once a month, and every month at the bank I want to cry.....
What to do, what to do.... |

Maybe when it hits 2:1 will be time to give serious consideration about packing up. Seriously, when will enough be enough? |

This is absolutely terrible. I don't know how much worse it can get before I pull the plug.
I've been here six years, and I'm starting to think a multi-year/permanent vacation is in order.
Korea's been good to me, but nowadays not so much.

Is it this bad for Candians and everyone else or just us Americans? |

The Canadian dollar has been sliding a lot. I think it's below 80 cents to the US dollar now.
The big consideration is that a lot of the 'experts' who I follow (like Jim Rogers) are saying that US dollar itself is one huge bubble about to burst.
So if the US dollar totally tanks, what will happen to the Won? |

Mostly us Americans because for the foreseeable future the American dollar will be seen as a safe haven for foreign investors. This shores up the value of the greenback. this likely won't last forever as American consumers continue to hold onto their $s.
It's ironic because the BS started in the US, but this is the collapse of a global system which was doomed to fail eventually. The US just happened to be the catalyst.
Anyway, get ready for a year or three of suckiness.

18 months ago the won was near 800 for a CAD. Now it's near 1200. Totally sucking for Canadians. |

It's just quite upsetting as a newbie. This is my first time here, and I have 6 months left in my contract before I head home. 6 more times of crying at the bank?
I don't even have the option of NOT sending the money home every month, I'm literally at a complete loss of what to do... |
