I think it's a form of social constructionism.

I used moodle for awhile, it's a pretty good web-based interface. There are a few problems with customization but other than that it was good.

I use it for my classes to post homework, videos, helpful web links, discussion forums, chat rooms, and grades. I don't have to be worried about killing a tree for handouts, either.

I like it.

I like Moodle, especially when combined with Joomla. Overall though I prefer Ning as it is more interaction oriented (rather than teacher-centered).

Do you know how to make quizes?

I am also using www.wiziq.com to embed classrooms into it, but I am having a problem with the share screen feature. You?

I've come across it several times offer the last several years. I'm kinda interested in learning more about it but it seems rather over-whelming.

It seems to be structured for large university online classwork.

Not at all. It is completely customizable. You put on the webpage what you want. The tools are there if you want them, or not. Put as little or as much as you wish into the page.
