|
|
I've got the possibility of getting a public school job in Suwon. I know Suwon is pretty good size but I don't have any idea exactly where it is yet. I'll know tomorrow.
But I was wondering about the connections from Suwon to Seoul. I like to salsa dance and I frequently go to Apgujeong, Hongdae, Itaewon or Gangnam.
Early last year I went to a GEPIK seminar in Suwon but I don't remember where it was and the travel times, etc. but I do remember that Suwon is on a subway line.
Could somebody tell me the quickest ways to travel between Suwon and Seoul? What's best......bus or subway?
Thanks,

For Apgujeong and Gangnam, bus is probably the fastest. For Hongdae and Itaewon, take the subway.
It will greatly matter how far from the subway you are. That could add up to half an hour to your travel time. |

From North Suwon it can be as little as 30 minutes go Gangnam / Jamsil (faster than people who live in many parts of Seoul).
From southwest Suwon it can be as much as 2 hours to get to the popular areas in Seoul.
It takes about an hour to Gangnam from Yongtong.

I can catch the 7770 bus right outside my apartment building and be at Sadang Station in about 1/2 hour. In heavy traffic, the bus drivers even drive on the shoulders. The bus runs about every 5-10 minutes.

If you live by Suwon station (West Suwon), the train is a good option.
25-35 mins to Yeongdeungpo/Yongsan/Seoul stations and from there the subway is a good option.
To get to Gangnam/Jamsil/Sadang, take the buses 3000/1007/7770. I haven't taken the bus to Jamsil or Sadang yet, but to get to Gangnam is about an hour.
There is also the subway...and you can check the times to various destinations here, www.smrt.co.kr. Note, that there are 4 stations in Suwon: Seryu, Hwaseo, Sunkyunkwan (sp?) Uni and Suwon.
I seldom use the subway anymore to get to Seoul as the train cuts about 20-25mins off the journey and is far more comfortable. (cost is 2500 vs about 1400...but if you take the subway once you get off the train...then the cost is closer to 3500 vs 1500). |
