What's the maximum amount of cash you are allowed to declare when you come to Korea? |

You can import as much cash as you want.
You must make a customs declaration (just like you would if you were importing anything else of value) if you import more than US$10,000 or the equivalent in another currency (or negotiable instruments).
There is no tax or restriction on the use of said funds. (buy a house, buy stocks, start a business, etc).
If you import more than 50 million won at one time you MAY qualify for an investors visa instead of the lowly E2.

If there is no tax or restriction on the use of the money, why do you have to declare it? Just curious.
I'm thinking off bringing some dollars in, converting them to won, putting it into an account, and waiting for the housing bubble to burst. I always wanted a place in Korea. Anything else I should know? |
