It might just be easier to find a place that has a photo album of hairstyles.

I got a cut and color last weekend. I said "Hey, can you take care of this?" and pointed to my head.

The best idea is to bring in your own magazine photo the first time. The magazines they have sitting around are all Asian guys and unless you want an Asian style you are going to be out of luck finding a picture of how you want your hair cut. And, I have found most people giving 5,000 won haircuts at the Blue Club or whatever don't speak a lick of English.

holy *beep*, I'm so glad I didn't go to blue club

I was wandering around town trying to get an estimate on haircuts when I walked into a hole in the wall and this really nice lady grabbed me by the arm and forced me down on the chair. The hair cut sucked but so did she!!!!

actually, I went to blue club and just pointed to one of the pictures they had, since i'm asian, it worked out for the best.

A male friend of mine goes to blue club and says "short" and indicates short with his fingers.

I don't remember exactly, but I think that jalkay is Korean for "short." I haven't had to get a hair cut for a while.

Ive only had luck in this city with one barber from Ghana. The Blue Club or whatever place was a ridiculous fiasco for me. I went with my Korean friend and she knew exactly what I wanted and explained it to the guy. I wanted a simple even fade that did not angle like the Korean yarmulke cut. So he's doing this and telling her that he knows what foreigners like best as I'm saying "no, it's wrong" in English and Korean. I ended up making him shave it all off. So, I either have to visit this guy from Ghana in Itaewon or get some lady to shave and shampoo my head when i want a haircut.

Good luck to you though.

Or print your own picture from online and bring it in, give it to them, and say, "same-same."

I've always found Blue Club good. They have the "hair menu" there with number next to the pictures of different styles. I tell them to do a basic short cut but without the shaved sides around the temple. That'd just look weird on a white guy. It's easy enough to explain with a couple of yogi-s and igot-s.
