do you have a Korean spouse and an F-5 visa?
planning on being here many more years?
would you like to own your own hogwon?
in 2001 I came to Korea to teach English for one year. 8 months later I met a Korean woman who became my wife a year later.
we opened a small school together with 8 students.
within a year we had 30 students.
we moved into a bigger school and a year later had 100 students.
we moved into an even bigger school and a year later we had 160 students.
we could not find a bigger school anywhere so we bought a second hogwon.
owning a hogwon is a difficult stressful job but the right married couple could do it.
at this time, we have decided we are getting a little too old for this and we are not enjoying it as much as we used to so we have decided to sell both at the end of next year. we are looking for around 120 million negotiable.
I have been a poster on this board for many years but I registered this new name to make this post because I don't want lots of people contacting me.
I just made this post to make you give this some thought for december 2009.
Thank you for reading this

technically the schools are NOT for sale at this time but the end of next year they will be.
this post was made to give married couples an idea of something to do a year from now. |

Did it ever occur to you to let people know where this hagwon is located? |

He might want to wait for serious offer before releasing that information.... |

Well, how does one become serious unless they know where they might want to work? If money wasn't a problem, do you want to work in Seoul or out in the country? |

I can't PM yet.
Send me some details via PM or, better yet, e-mail me at:
[email protected]
I'm interested in the location, curriculum, number of employees, number of long term students, what you charge the students per month, number of elem students, middle school students and HS students, etc.
Also, licensure information.
I'm here for the long term with my wife. |

I cannot send or receive pm's with this account.
I would like to remain anonymous so I cannot say which city but there are 300,000 residents here.
John, I think we are looking to sell around the end of next year.
can you wait that long? |

That's a heck of a long wait for someone wanting to get into the business with the purchase of your ones in mind. |

I think that this is more of a "testing the waters" kind of post. No transaction like this would take place without some serious vetting.
I'd be interested in this if I wasn't planning to return to NZ with the wife. Of course one can always start your own hagwon. |

I'm sure the OP could get out earlier if you made it worth his while.
Also most people would need some time to come up with 120mil without going into huge debt.
120m seems very cheap if you own the buildings the hogwons are in or kinda expensive if you don't. |

Please email me. I would like to discuss this opportunity with you. Waiting until December next year is fine. However, it will take time to do the groundwork, so the sooner we can meet for an informal chat the better.

Thanks in advance. |
